Phillip R. Clark (October 29, 2018)

Phillip R. Clark, 80, of Ansonia, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2018 at his residence.

Phillip was born on August 28, 1938 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to the late Lewis and Nettie (Hill) Clark. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Clark, Jr.; his brothers, Harry Clark, Ned Clark, George Clark, and Charlie Clark; and his sisters, Marjorie Flint, and Alberta Eiselstein.

Phillip served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. After returning from the service, Phillip became a surveyor traveling throughout the United States. In 1977, he started his career with Piqua Municipal Power System, where he worked for 22 years before retiring in 1998. Phillip enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing weekly dime poker games. He loved watching sporting events and loved watching Lane play baseball, never missing a game. Phillip was a long-standing member of the Ansonia American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors and would frequently visit his brother in Peebles and would take daily rides in the country.

Phillip is survived by his children, Teresa (Kenny) Cromes of Ansonia, Shane (Tess) Clark of Ansonia; grandchildren, Kazz Bowers, Lane Clark, Taylor Thwaits, Joseph Cromes, Kenny Cromes, Anthony Cromes and Lane Cromes; 5 great grandchildren; his brother, Morris Clark of Pebbles, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Phillip's life, with full military honors provided by the Greenville Honor Guard, will be held at 1 PM on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Pastor Jim Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Robert Franklin Deaton (October 27, 2018)

Robert Franklin Deaton, age 91, passed away October 27, 2018, at home. He was born January 30, 1927 IN Hamilton, Ohio to the late Virgil and Bessie (Petry) Deaton. He was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

Robert was married to Florence (Garber) on March 19, 1955. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Kenneth and Freida, Leonard and Kristi, Richard and Linda, Margaret Mikesell, Martha and Dave Bower, Evelyn and Dale Filbrun, Naomi and Alan Garber; 32 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in law: Paul and Faye Garber, Russell and Etta May Garber, Charles and Thelma Garber, Alice and David Miller, Lowell and Marilyn Garber, Doris and Dale Culp.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the funeral scheduled for Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 10:00AM, all at the Palestine Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 4764 Clark Station Rd., Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery just behind the church.

Nancy Lee (Arthur) Ketring (October 24, 2018)

Nancy Lee (Arthur) Ketring formerly of Greenville passed away peacefully on October 24, 2018, at Creekside Cottages in Grundy Center, Iowa where she resided for a short time.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held Saturday November 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Palestine Cemetery Palestine, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Military Honors will be offered by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Nancy was born to Francis and Lorna (Burrack) Arthur of Edgewood, Iowa, on August 11, 1948. She grew up in Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School with the class of 1966. After high school she attended Cedar Rapids Business College and graduated in August of 1967. She then went on to work at Central Iowa Production Association.

Nancy joined the Navy in June of 1974. While in the Navy she met Gerald L. Ketring. They were married on November 13, 1980. The couple resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Nancy was honorably discharged from the Navy in June of 1982. She continued to work at the Navy base as a civil servant until June of 1989. After Gerald’s discharge from the Navy, the couple moved to Greenville, Ohio, in June of 1989 where Gerald’s family resided. She worked at the Cracker Barrel until September of 1993, after which she worked at Wal-Mart as a bookkeeper until she retired in October of 2010. Gerald passed away on March 18, 2002.

Nancy is survived by a stepson, Curtis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters: Mary (Jim) Petersen of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Annette (Bob) Watermiller of Reinbeck; a brother: Roger (Ronna) Arthur of Edgewood, Iowa; a sister-in-law Sandy Ketring of Greenville, Ohio; a brother-in-law Walter (Sheila) Ketring of New Madison, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; sister Sheryll and a stepdaughter Yvonne.

Robert N. Alspaugh (October 25, 2018)

Robert N. Alspaugh age 74, of New Madison passed away at 5:34 PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

Robert was born May 23, 1944, in Darke County to the late Carl N. & C. Jean (Schell) Alspaugh. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his wife, Gerry C. (Flowers) Alspaugh; and brothers, Kenneth and David Alspaugh.

Robert is survived by his step children, Diane & John Stewart of Troy, Greg & Kathy Hawk of Vandalia and Scott & Robin Hawk of Tipp City; step-grandchildren, Rachel & Ryan Paulus, Nick Canan, Michele & Rob Aitken, David Hawk, Kimberly Hawk, Brandon Hawk and Josh Hawk; 4 step-great grandchildren; and a sister, Vicki (Jan) Sybenga of Dayton.

Robert retired from the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Robert was a body shop technician and cowboy at heart.

Lula Mae Suter (October 25, 2018)

Lula Mae Suter, 99 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday October 25, 2018 at 8:50 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born April 13, 1919 in Scott County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Samuel & Nannie (Hembree) Young.

She worked at Fram for 20 years from 1951-1972. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose and Greenville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary; she enjoyed bowling, gardening, cooking and needlework.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband: Curtis Raines; 2nd husband: John R. Suter; daughter: Lois Weese; sisters: Ziddie Kennedy, Arlena Stocker, Cecelia Franklin, Wilma Chambers, Reba Wade; brothers: Stanley Young, John Young, & Paul Young.

She is survived by her daughters: Mona Isaac of Greenville, Brenda Dudding of Centerville, & Mary Worthen of Vandalia, Ohio; step sons: John A Suter of Greenville, David E. Suter of Greenville; & Joseph Suter; grandchildren: Don & Brenda Isaacs, Debbie & Mark Miller, Pam & Dave Furlong, Scott & Rhonda Weese, Kim & Dave McMahan, Chris & Tammi Ross, Amy Whittington, Eric Worthen, Michael Lowe, Karen Young, Trish & Ty Williams; 17 great grandchildren; 23 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Dave Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday October 29, 2018 and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Terry L. McEldowney (October 24, 2018)

Terry L. McEldowney, 65, Versailles, passed away October 24, 2018 at Rest Haven Nursing Home.

He was born on September 25, 1953 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Curtis and Rebecca (Sanders) McEldowney, Sr.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis McEldowney, Jr. and Scott McEldowney; his sister, Kay Perez.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Duane & Roxanne McEldowney of New Madison; special friends, Barb & Bill Neiberg of Versailles; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Terry enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR racing; especially Tony Stewart.

A celebration of Terry's Life will be held at 5 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will be held at a later date.

Mary Culver (October 22, 2018)

Mary Culver, 58, of Ansonia, passed away on October 22, 2018 at her residence.

Mary was born on August 26, 1960 in Greenville to Carol Culver-Lenker of Greenville and the late Robert Culver.

In addition to her father, she is proceeded in death by her step-father, Marvin Lenker.

Mary enjoyed reading the bible, loved flowers of all kinds, and putting puzzles together. She also loved making baby blankets for her friends and family. Mary was an avid reader; but above all she cherished being a mother and taking care of her beloved son, Daryl. The two of them enjoyed taking long drives together.

In addition to her mother, Mary is survived by her son, Daryl Reiman of Ansonia; her siblings, Kathy (Ron) Widener of Rossburg, Jackie (Dane) Whittington of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Janice (Danny) Via of Sarasota, Florida, Joyce (Dale) Lyme of Greenville, and Mike (Heidee) Culver of California; her step siblings, Shirley (Alan) Phillippi of Ansonia, Betty O’Shea of New Jersey, Ron Lenker of Utah, Brenda Gibson of Sebring, Florida, and Barbara Mott of Harrison, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Mary's life will be held at noon on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes- Greenville Campus with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Don M. “Ike” Rodeheffer (October 16, 2018)

Don M. “Ike” Rodeheffer, age 91 of Rossburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at 10:43 PM, October 16, 2018 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. Born in Lightsville, Ohio on July 12, 1927 he was a son to the late Bill & Nellie (Brewer) Rodeheffer. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gettysburg, Ohio and the Elks Club in Union City, Indiana. He owned his own trucking business, Rodeheffer Hauling, in Lightsville, Ohio. Don was a former Mississinawa Township Trustee. He enjoyed watching Indy racing, and vacationing in Florida. He will be truly missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter-in-law Marvella Rodeheffer.
Survived by children Steve Rodeheffer; Sean Rodeheffer; Kevin & Trish Rodeheffer; daughter-in-law Maidria Rodeheffer: grandchildren Candace Hart; Shawn Rodeheffer; LeAnn Rodeheffer; Ashley Rodeheffer: great-grandchildren Nathan Thornhill; Thomas Hart; Mackenzie Hart.

Kathryn G. Oberer (October 21, 2018)

Kathryn G. Oberer, age 93 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:12 PM Sunday October 21, 2018 at her residence in Greenville. Kay was born August 22, 1925 in Kanawha County West Virginia and the daughter of the late L.E. and Estline C. (Hayes) Estep.

She was a homemaker and had been employed at Walmart for 10 years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold F. Oberer; daughter Karen Stone in 2013; sisters Dorothy Robinson, Ruby Clark, Mary Nida, Mabel Anderson and Bernice Huffman; brothers Donald Estep, Russell Estep and Harold “Gene” Estep.

Kay is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Jody Oberer of Greenville; brother Marvin Estep as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday October 26, 2018 at the Greenville Missionary Church 1110 North Broadway Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Entombment will be held in the Greenville Township Memorial Garden Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until time of the services in the church.

Timothy Robert Doss (October 21, 2018)

Timothy Robert Doss age 52, of Greenville passed away at 5:30 AM on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.

Timothy was born July 27, 1966, in Greenville to Virgie Ellen (Baker) Doss of Arcanum and the late Robert Doss Jr. In addition to his father, Timothy was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert Doss Sr., Betty Null and John Null; and his maternal grandparents, Leonard Baker and Glenna & Walter Sharp.

Timothy is survived by his fiancée, Lori Snyder of Greenville; children, Jacob (Destiny) Doss of Dayton, Jessica Doss of Dayton, Dustin (Makayla) Snyder of Greenville, Maci (Elliot) Snyder of Greenville and Jena (Ben) Whittington of Greenville; grandchildren, Forrest, Kayden, Laine, Braxton and Paisley; siblings, Cindy (Lee) Blank of Wapakoneta, Sharri (Donnie) Klingensmith of Greenville, Brenda (Doug) Burns of Arcanum and Bobby (Ernie) Doss of Dayton; dog, Sadie; and numerous nieces and nephews

Timothy was an independent floor installer. He enjoyed fishing, country rides in his truck and just had a love for the outdoors. Timothy loved being with his family and the love of his life, Lori.

Robert C. Loy Jr. (October 19, 2018)

Robert C. Loy Jr. age 67, of Gettysburg passed away at 8:40 AM on Friday, October 19, 2018, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

Robert was born December 19, 1950, in Troy to the late Robert C. & Delores (Brown) Loy Sr. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by a son, Joshua Brian Loy.

Robert is survived by his wife, Rita L. (Neas) Loy the love of his life; children, Chad Loy of Troy, Hallie & Drew Roby of Flint, Michigan, Mike & Lisa Ritchea of Troy, Dustin Ritchea of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth “Nikki” Loy of Sidney and Robert “Robbie” Loy of Gettysburg; grandchildren, Carson Loy, Callie Loy, Erica Ritchea, Brock Ritchea, Miley Ritchea and Kaden Lanning; and sister-in-law, Betty & Joseph Wise of Liberty, North Carolina.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Trophy Nut Company in Tipp City for 44 years. Robert was a member of the NRA.

Alan Lindamood (October 20, 2018)

Alan Lindamood, 42, of Greenville, passed away on October 20, 2018 at his residence.

Alan was born on May 17, 1976 in Greenville, to Tony (Lou Ann) Lindamood of New Madison, and Janet (Duane) Hough of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Sarah Miller; and his paternal grandmother, Doreen Lindamood.

Alan loved to spend time with his kids, whom he always put first. He enjoyed playing video games, reading comic books and loved watching movies.

In addition to his parents, Alan is survived by his children; Alex and Alivia Lindamood, of Greenville; his brothers, Garrett Lindamood of New Madison, and Sam Lindamood of Englewood, Ohio; his sister, Jessie Hough of Laura, Ohio; his paternal grandfather, Sam Lindamood of Glen Karn, Ohio; and his special friend, Sheila Argabright of Brookville, Ohio.

A Celebration of Alan's life will be held on November 3, 2018 at 2 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus with Rev. Eric Fee officiating.

Franklin Eugene “Gene” Weyrick (October 15, 2018)

Franklin Eugene “Gene” Weyrick, age 82 of Greenville, Ohio passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at 9:45 AM, Monday, October 15, 2018 at the State of the Heart Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. Born February 10, 1936 in Hamburg, Ohio, he was one of 4 children to the late Zelmer & Wanda (Short) Weyrick. Eugene made a living driving semi-trucks, he owned and operated Weyrick’s Lawncare for many years, and had numerous part time jobs after retirement. He loved John Deere tractors, his Ford pickup trucks, camping, and visiting the Darke County Fair. More than anything, he had a kind, genuine heart, and was always more than willing to help anyone in need, any way that he could. He will truly be missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by nephew Randy Weyrick, brother-in-law Jim Hill, and long time friend, Ray Anderson.

Survived by his wife Carol (Wells) Weyrick; children Mike (& Denise) Weyrick; Sharon (Weyrick) Harris; grandchildren Janell (& Kyle) Marshall; Laura Weyrick; Bryant Weyrick; Amanda Harris; siblings Esther (& Willard) Karns; Floyd (& Virginia) Weyrick; Betty Hill; beloved dog “Dutchess”; as well as many special nieces and nephews, friends and family members.

Lenvall H. Delk (October 13, 2018)

Lenvall H. Delk, age 83, died on Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born November 29, 1934. He married Sarah Jane (Brinkman) Delk on August 6, 1955. Lenvall farmed for several years and worked in various positions, including being a window installer. He loved his family and enjoyed holding and playing with his great-grandchildren.

Lenvall is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane (Brinkman) Delk of Arcanum; three children, Chris (Lori) Delk of St. Louis, MO, Karen (Kenny) Garland of Arcanum OH and Galen Delk of Arcanum, OH, daughter-in-law Cindi Delk of Grove City, Ohio; twelve grandchildren, Jenni Carr of Columbus, OH, Megan Foster (Chris) of Laura, OH, Alyssa Wetzel (Scott) of Pendleton, IN, Jessica Benesh (Jared) of Birmingham, MI, Molly Nash (Josh) of Kansas City, MO, Ryan Delk of Winter Garden, FL, Aaron Delk of St. Louis, MI, Nicholas Delk of Arcanum, OH, Jared Delk of Tipp City, OH, Alexandria Delk of Palm Harbor, FL, Andrew Eastby of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Taylor Delk of Fairfield, OH; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Robert (Noreta) of Pitsburg, OH, Kenneth (Marcia) of Rossburg, OH, and sisters; Vera (William) Beisner of Greenville, OH, Janice (Lowell) Shields of Eldorado, OH, Marilyn Myers of Greenville, OH, and Doris Osborne of Greenville, OH, sister-in-law Lois Delk and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Brian Delk, daughter-in-law, Regina Delk and brothers Carroll Delk, James Delk, and Doyle Delk.

James Rollin Dull (October 12, 2018)

James Rollin Dull, 81 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday October 12, 2018 at 2:28 PM at State of the Heart Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born July 3, 1937 in Celina, Ohio the son of the late Clarence S. and Dorothy (Buchanan) Dull.

Jim started his career early in life at North Star Hardware. He was a man of many trades including farming, snowmobile sales, bulldozing, mechanic and body work.

His adventurous attitude, happy demeanor and hard work ethic made him a wonderful person to know and spend time with. He enjoyed mornings at McDonalds and Front Street Inn with friends, mowing the lawn, carving and wood burnings, dancing and music and working on any project he could find. He enjoyed traveling out West, winters spent in Florida with friends and time back at the pond.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Madonna Sease, Mary Ann Easterling, half-brother William (Bud) Jefferson Dull, half-sisters: Kathyrn Grimm, Edith Montgomery, Gertrude Schipper.

He is survived by his young love: Helen (Riegle) Dull of Greenville whom he married June 16, 1956 and was married to for 62 years. Also surviving with many memories are his daughter Pam (Nick) Ruchty of Naples, Florida; grandchildren: Emily Ruchty of Cleveland and Ashley (Sean) Lawyer of Oxford, England; his special grand puppy: Zoe; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.

Services will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Fred Bernhard and Rev. Scott Trittschuh officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Twp. Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday October 16, 2018 and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Margie Johnson (October 13, 2018)

Margie Johnson, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Brethren Retirement Community on October 13, 2018. She was born in McKee, KY, on April 11, 1926 to the late James and Laurinda (Johnson) Smith.

Margie married Dale Johnson from Eaton, OH, on Jan. 24, 1950, and lived in Greenville where they raised their three children. Margie was a cook for the Greenville School System and at the Darke County Home. Margie had a great smile and loved to be with her family. Margie was known for being spunky and witty until the very end, often calling her family and caretakers $h!t @s$ with a twinkle in her eye.

She loved homemaking, playing cards and caring for people. As difficult as it was for her family to see her decline in health during the past several years, Margie is with her Lord Jesus in her Heavenly Home enjoying what she loved most.

Margie is survived by her children: Michael (Janet), Sebring, Florida; James (Janet), Columbus, Indiana; Annette (Craig) Hohnberger, Groveport, Ohio; and grandchildren: Christopher (Stephanie) Johnson; Lauren and Leah Hohnberger.

In addition, Margie, was preceded in death by Dale, her beloved husband of 66 years, her parents and her 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 19, at 10 a.m. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio, until time of the Celebration of Life Service starting at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Oser and Pastor Ron Isom officiating. Burial will follow at the Zion Cemetery located outside of Eaton, Ohio.

Phyllis Ann (Trent) Horner, 86 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday October 12, 2018 at 3:23 PM at her residence. She was born October 23, 1932 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Joe & Mary (Iddings) Trent. She worked as a secretary at Trent Auto Parts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Kenneth Horner on May 2, 2014 whom she married October 21, 1955; her daughter: Lori Horner; Her brother: Jerry Trent.

She is survived by her sisters: Debbie Deitz of Jeffersonville, Indiana, & Karen Trent of Bowling Green, Ohio; her brother: Larry Trent of Greenville; special friends: Jody & Dean Neff of Greenville; & numerous nieces & nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Greenville Twp. Memorial Gardens with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Sharon L. Tedder (October 10, 2018)

Sharon L. Tedder, 80, of Greenville, passed away on October 10, 2018 at Wayne Health Care Center.

She was born on June 30, 1938 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Cleo Lincoln and LaVone (Hosbrook) Kessler.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Tedder, whom she married June 30, 1978; her sisters, Shirley Stump, Carolyn K. Hile, and Marilyn Kessler; her brother, Donovan Kessler and her beloved dog Noel Paige.

Sharon retired from FRAM in 1999 after 41 years of service. She was a very creative woman and loved making things with her hands. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and sewing. She had a love for animals, especially dogs and cats. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her children, Toni Sue Corey, and Lincoln (Beckam) Poling all of Greenville; her grandchildren, Trisha (Donnie) Kessler, Erica (Matt) Riley, Kaylee Corey, Shaun (Rachael) Duplessis, Kasey (Chris) Bunger; 12 great grandchildren with one on the way; 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Vanessa Stikeleather, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Jeorgene Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakgrove Cemetery.

Carl E. Holloway (October 8, 2018)

Carl E. Holloway, 94, Greenville, passed away October 8, 2018 at Village Green Health Campus.

He was born on December 20, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Dwight Holloway and Mabel (Ayers) Holloway-Davis.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his beloved and devoted wife of 67 years, Eleanor June (Leffler), who died July 29, 2015; his stepfather, Red Davis; his brother Wilford Holloway, who was killed in action November 1, 1944 in WWII and laid to rest in Lorain, France; his sister Janet Snodgrass; his brother Richard Holloway.

He is survived by his children, Edward (Margaret) Holloway of Tennessee, Karen Freeman of Florida, Doug (Linda) Holloway of Colorado, and Carla (Joe) Monnin of Ohio; his grandchildren: Tim, Lisa, Tamara, Shawn, Aimee, Nick and Ronnie; great-grandchildren: Samuel, Adam, Chantel, Amanda, Sarah, Emerald, Jace, Ricky and Bella; niece Rita (Doug) Guinn and nephew Steve Holloway.

He started as a Machinist Helper out of high school at Valley Machine Tool Company, Dayton. He Carl was a PFC in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, serving in the Asiatic Pacific during WWII. He then returned to Dayton and worked at Carleton R Elliott Corp. and was certified as a Model Maker IV, but later transferred to Race Tool and Mold in Dayton. He retired as a Tool and Die Maker from Dayton Reliable Tool and Die in 1994 and continued to enjoy playing golf and cards with many good friends through the years.

Military funeral honors will be conducted at the Dayton National Cemetery on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 9:30AM.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5PM to 7PM Tribute Funeral Home - Greenville Campus. Full Military Honors will be conducted Thursday at 7PM by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Dayton National Cemetery at 9:30AM Friday.

G. Jacqueline Trick (October 7, 2018)

G. Jacqueline Trick, age 84 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at the Kettering Medical Center on Sunday October 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 9, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio and the daughter of the late Omer and Gertrude (Dillhoff) Korte.

Jacque graduate from Julienne High School Dayton, Ohio Class of 1952. She married Edward Trick on May 7, 1955 at Holy Angels Catholic Church of Dayton and they raised a family of seven and where married for over 63 years. In addition to being a very active homemaker she also owned and operated the Hearthside Christmas and Gift Shop located in Greenville.

She will be greatly missed and remembered by her loving husband Edward Trick; sons Ed Trick Jr. of Arcanum, Thomas (Brenda) Trick of Richmond Hill, GA, John (Mindy) Trick of Greenville, David (Susan) Trick of Lemont, IL., daughters Karen (Richard) Cline of Arcanum, Susan (Larry) Harter of Arcanum, Nancy (Scott) Troutwine of Arcanum; 12 grandchildren Erin (Ryan) McKenna, Jonathan (Veronica) Cline, Kelly Cline, Holly (David Rogers) Trick, Heather (Jordan) Ostroff, Stacy (Rob) Voutila, Justin Trick, Tyler Trick, Ryan Trick; 6 great grandchildren Charlotte McKenna, Audrey McKenna, Evelyn Cline, Aria Rogers, Wyatt Rogers, Benjamin Ostroff; sister Mary Ann Frantz as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Wilfred Korte and Joseph Korte.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday October 11, 2018 at the Transfiguration Catholic Church 972 South Miami Street West Milton, Ohio with Father John Tonkin Celebrant. Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greenville, Ohio. Robert G. “Bob” Shaffer (October 5, 2018)

Robert G. “Bob” Shaffer, 73, of West Manchester, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton.

He was born on January 31, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Harry and Stella (Swink) Shaffer.

Bob worked for NCR in Dayton for 41 years before “retiring”. He loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. He enjoyed Karaoke and singing at nursing homes with Darrin and Terri, something they called Nursing Home Ministries. Bob had an amazing sense of humor and was always telling jokes, usually bad ones. He loved all types of sports and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Bob is known by his family as “Mr. Fix-it”. He was a homegrown engineer who would and could fix just about anything. Bev never got anything new because Bob would just fix whatever broke. He loved working with his hands and working with wood in his workshop.

Bob held many titles, performed many duties, but none more important than Grandpa. He loved and adored his grandchildren. He would never miss any event they were involved in; anytime, anywhere. If they were doing it… he was there.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly (Paulus) Shaffer, whom he married September 27, 1964; his children, Darrin (Terri) Shaffer of Eaton, Ohio, and Teresa (Troy Wombold) Woodall of Eldorado, Ohio; his grandchildren, Cristi, Brittany (David), Chloe, Austin, Kailee, Zach, Heather, and Holly (Michael); his great grandchildren, Aubrie, Daltyn, Dezaray, and Kameron; his brother, Gary Shaffer of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and countless nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 5PM on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Greenmound Cemetery.

Linda Bruss, 68 of Wayne Lakes, Ohio passed away on Thursday October 4, 2018 at her home. Linda was born September 16, 1950 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Richard & Maxine M. (Sharp) Bruss.

Linda worked at Kmart in Greenville for many years. She enjoyed spending any time she could with her nieces and catching up on Court TV shows. Linda also looked forward to Sunday and Wednesday visits from her dear friend Debbie Rader. Linda was loved dearly and known for her sweet kind and comical jokes. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time fishing.

Linda is survived by her brother: Terry E. Overbay of Wayne Lakes; her niece Kelly Williamson & fiancé Vladimir Lepka of Wayne Lakes; her nephews: Todd Schricker of Troy, Ohio, Troy & Hiwot Overbay of Bowling Green, Kentucky; her great nieces & nephews: Brittany Williamson, Tia Williamson, Mariah Williamson, Hunter, Ashley & Abby Overbay, Justice, Jayden, Jordy, Joah, Maddy, McKenna, Liberty, & Chealie Schricker.

John N. Grillot (October 2, 2018)

John N. Grillot age 86, of Versailles passed away at 2:02 PM on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, in the ER at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville.

John was born December 10, 1931, in Darke County to the late Robert L. & Esther N. (Burkett) Grillot. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a brother, David Grillot.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ellen C. (Pleiman) Grillot whom he married September 1, 1955; children, John C. & Lori Grillot of Sidney, Gary Grillot of Russia, Pat & Yukari Grillot of San Jose, California, and Kathy & Mat Van Etten of Covington; grandchildren, Jason Grillot, Jeff Grillot, Brian Grillot, Nicole Minnich and Abby Ball; 13 great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Robert & Jean Grillot of Covington; sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Laverne Homan of Coldwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Elson Ford of Versailles and Sidney where he was the parts and service manager. John was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was a very active member of the Versailles American Legion and V.F.W. where he served as record-keeper. John was an active member of the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 8, 2018, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Duell celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. Joe was born April 4, 1936, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Merritt M. & Mildred (Parker) Wolfard. In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Carolyn Sue (Stout) Wolfard; sister, Shirley Deleo; and brothers-in-law, Carl Deleo and Michael Karn.

Joe is survived by his 2nd wife, Linda L. (Arnold) Wolfard whom he married July 20, 1996; daughters & sons-in-law, Debbie & Rich Utley of Warsaw, Indiana and Tammy & Peter Grant of Saint Albans, Missouri; step-children, Melissa Eve of Greenville, Ohio and Michelle & Bernie Malakar of Aiken, South Carolina; grandchildren, Chris Utley, Katie Utley, Cameron Grant, Kristin Grant and Cullen Grant; step-grandchildren, Josh & Jennica Hollinger, Dylane Borgen and Isaiah Malakar; step-great grandchildren, Jack Hollinger and Ethan Hollinger; sister & brother-in-law, Margaret & Alan Monger of Huntsville, Alabama; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Cheryl & Jim Hardeman of The Villages, Florida, Karen Karn of Brookville, Ohio and Lisa & Steve Headley of Greenville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe received his Associate Degree in Engineering at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. He worked at Dana Corporation in Richmond, Indiana, for 22 years and retired from Visteon Corporation in Connersville, Indiana for 18 years where he was a design engineer. Joe enjoyed being home with his family. He enjoyed woodworking, remodeling his home and refinishing antiques.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Dr. John Person officiating. Linda A. Ballard, 68, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at The Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

Linda was born on August 9, 1950 to the late Jack and Virginia (Miller) Hathaway.

Linda is survived by her husband of 27 years, Donald Ballard of Greenville, whom she married on August 30, 1989.

Linda was an advertising representative for over 30 years at Ball Publishing/Early Bird and was a sales representative and an on-air broadcaster for WDRK radio station. Linda was an avid member of the Ladybug Garden Club, Darke County and Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. She enjoyed photography; winning several awards at the Great Darke County Fair and was a member of the Greenville Art Guild.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Rev. Eric Fee officiating.

Jill I. King, 52, of Peebles, Ohio passed away on September 29, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on April 7, 1966 in Greenville, Ohio to Gene and Marilyn (Young) Shoenleben of Greenville.

Jill was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time camping with her family, and enjoyed traveling to new places. Jill was a collector of M&M's memorabilia, and she was extremely proud of all that she had collected over the years. Jill was cashier at Northtown McDonald's in Greenville for eight years. She was involved in the Darke County Humane Society where she served as a board member for several years.

Jill was preceded in death by two of her children, T.J. and Jessica Burchfield; and her granddaughter, Raven Burchfield.

In addition to her parents, Jill is survived by her husband of 23 years, John King of Peebles, Ohio, whom she married on July 14, 1995; her children, Laura (David) Jones of Peebles, Geoffery (Andrea) Burchfield of Greenville; her grandchildren, Braylin Burchfield, Jessica Jones, Axle Burchfield, Alyssa Jones; her brother, Denny (Jacque) Shoenleben of Covington, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jill’s life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Jon Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Ila S. Gregson, age 91 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:05 AM, Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Village Green Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. Born in Albany, Kentucky on July 1, 1927 she was a daughter to the late Welby & Stella (Lyons) Upchurch. Ila was the owner and manager of the Peppermint Village Apartments in Union City for many years. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, lifetime member of the VFW; Moose lodge & Elks lodge. Ila was a hard-working loving mother and grandmother, she will truly be missed. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband Robert E. Gregson, Sr. : her siblings: son-in-law Dan Campbell.
