Russell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris (Rhoades) Mikesell whom he married October 21, 1950; daughters & sons-in-law, Pamela & Thomas Marsh of Las Vegas, Nevada, Connie O’Connor of Greenville and Jann & Michael Unger of Versailles; grandchildren, Aaron & Melissa Marsh, Alicia Marsh & Willie Hinkle, Rusty & Michelle O’Connor, Rodney & Angie O’Connor, April & Steve Lovett, Shawn & Marianne Unger, Shane Unger and Shad Unger; great grandchildren, Josephine, Cooper, Jakobi, Molly, Emily, Elly, Jace, Scott, Jac, Tobi, Chamberlain and Lauren; brothers & sister-in-law, Robert & Kathryn Mikesell of Greenville and John Mikesell of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Moleta Mikesell of Greenville and Shirley Mikesell of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Russell is also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim O’Connor; great grandson, Jacob Unger; brothers, Glen Jay, James, Billie A., Jesse and Richard Mikesell; and sisters, Mary Brown, Dorothy Clapp and Cora Baker.
Russell retired in 1986 from American Aggregates with over 20 years of service. Russell was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Alan A. Knoke officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Grace Resurrection Community Center.
