Ned Arthur Brown age 78 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:40 P.M. Sunday October 27, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing Home Greenville, Ohio. Ned was born July 13, 1935 in Verona, Preble County, Ohio and the son of the late Alva and Vera (Heckman) Brown.
Ned is survived by his wife Marian (Crawford) Brown of Greenville; son Craig Brown and daughter in law Cyndy (Albright) Brown of Ann Arbor, MI.; his daughter Faith (Brown) Webster and son in law Tom Webster of Shawano, WI.; four grandchildren Christopher Brown (Emma Houle), Corey (Shannon) Brown, Bethany Webster (Gero Parmentier) and Evan Webster (Lyndsey Waldburger); siblings Joetta (Brown) Unger, Dean Brown and Donzetta Heitfield.
In addition to his patents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Brown
Ned was a lifelong member of the Darke County community. He grew up in Arcanum, Ohio and worked in Greenville, Ohio for 17 ½ years for the Daily Advocate and various financial institutions including 17 ½ years of employment with Greenville National Bank. He believed in service to the community and was a part of the initial development of the Darke County YMCA expansion and participated in their work for many years. He was also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, serving on the board and as Treasurer. A member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton and an active member for over 50 years, first in the Church of the Brethren and now the First United Methodist Church of Greenville.
Ned loved traveling, taking scenic pictures, reading history about the West and riding his horse Bullwinkle at Rawah Ranch in Colorado to high places especially Middle Mountain.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday November 10, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church 202 West Fourth Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Angela Meeks officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 10, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. until time of the services in the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request that Memorial Contributions be given to the Darke County State of the Heart Hospice or your local Habitat for Humanity.

Roy B. Fitzwater, age 92, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7:20 AM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on October 15, 1921 in West Virginia to the late Matthew John Tilden & Mary J. (Runner) Fitzwater.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Seman) Lockhart-Fitzwater of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on May 20, 1998; sister, Mildred Frazee of Fairborn, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was a member of the EUM church in Greenville and was a truck driver for 60 years where he worked at Subler Trucking in Versailles and Case Carriage in Celina.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Fitzwater; siblings, Ira Fitzwater, Willie Fitzwater, Opal Shook, Howard Fitzwater, Eva Elsass, Gaye Moore, Lessie Barton, Bessie Shahan; and twin brother Troy Fitzwater.
There will be a service held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Violet R. “Vy” Copp age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 6:41 A.M. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Violet was born January 27, 1929 in Randolph County, Indiana to the late H. Alva & Retha M. (Flory) Stooksberry.
Violet is survived by her daughters & son-in-law, Angela Skiles & fiancé, Pete Downing of Greenville and Tracey & Mark Burk of Greenville; son & daughter-in-law, Mark & Candice Copp of Chesterton, Indiana; grandchildren, Leslie (TJ) Niedzielski, Jennifer (Mike) Manix, Derek Copp, Dustin Copp, Adam Burk, Brooke Copp, Aaron Burk and Jacob Burk; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Emil Bartos (October 25, 2013)
Emil Bartos, 95, of Eldorado died on October 25, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 6, 1918 in Dayton, Ohio to Andrew and Pauline (Kissa) Bartos .
Emil was a 1936 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton. He worked at Dayton Tire and Rubber. Emil was a community artist and painted for several organizations throughout the country. After Emil's heart surgery at the age of 75 he became interested again in his pastel fine art through art classes at the Preble County Art Center in Eaton, Ohio. He created many house portraits in the community and across the United States along with personal portraits and landscapes. His life was focused on his work in the churches he attended as a Bible study teacher and serving on council. Emil taught the Bethel Bible Study at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg for 25 years. He was commissioned to paint the 20th lesson on Revelation for the Bethel Series in Madison, Wisconsin. These works are at the Trinity Church in Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, Emil was preceded in death by his first wife, Etta Faye (Fox) of 35 years; brothers, Joseph Bartos, Andrew Bartos, Volto Bartos as well as four infant brothers; sisters, Anna Arnold, Pauline Williams, and Helen Kovackic and a daughter, Pina Pauline Bartos.

Jane Dynes, 81, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Unit in Greenville.
She was born July 31, 1932 in Ansonia, Ohio, a daughter of the late Van and Wanda (Richards) Young.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dynes, whom she married on December 13, 1947; a daughter, Belinda Dynes; and a grandson, Benjamin Hollinger.
Jane worked at Master Industries in Ansonia for over 30 years as a machine operator and was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Greenville. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sitting on her porch drinking coffee with her neighbors. Jane never passed up an opportunity to stop at any and all garage sales.
She is survived by her children, Bobby (Donna) Dynes of Greenville, Ohio, Vicky (Bob) Fields of Mendon, Ohio, Rick (Cheryl) Dynes of Ansonia, Ohio, Rocksand (Joby) Hollinger and Stoney Dynes, both of Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren, Laura Schaefer of Greenville, Ohio, Lysa (John) Morris of Hilliard, Ohio, Ray (Tina) Fields of Rockford, Ohio, Aaron (Amy) Dynes of Waynesville, Ohio, Allison (Kurt) Medrano of Ansonia, Ohio, Pennie (Troy) Gasper of Rossburg, Ohio and Sara Dynes of Greenville; brother Gary Young of Wayne Lakes, Ohio and sister-in-law Delores Dynes of Greenville. Joseph L. Schmitmeyer age 58 of St. Rt. 242 Versailles died at 3:45 PM on Friday October 25, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 24, 1955 in Coldwater Ohio to the Late Ernest & Alma (Dirksen) Schmitmeyer. His mother survives in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio. He married Linda Siefring on February 17, 1979 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, Ohio. She survives in Versailles.

Denis L. “Denny” Petitjean age 70, of Yuma, Arizona and formerly of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 10:39 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his residence. Denny was born April 11, 1943 in Russia, Ohio to the late Alpha & Ruth (George) Petitjean.

He was born July 19, 1938 in Lynn, IN, son of the late Melvin W. and Catherine (Hutchinson) Brown.
Karl was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a local certified ASA Mechanic until his retirement in 1994. Him and his wife owned and operated Wildcat Woods for 24 years. He is a member of the Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville, the Masonic Lodge and the Antioch Shrine.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte (Fudge) Brown, whom he married August 26, 1961; children, Brenda, Kurt, and Kim; 8 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Private services will be held at a later time with Pastor Sam Shilot officiating. Burial will take place in the Twin Creek Cemetery near West Manchester.
There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Hospice of the donor’s choice.

Isabelle Ruth Hollinger, 95, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Brethren Retirement Community. Isabelle was born on, May 31, 1918 to the late George and Linnie (Bennett) Chamberlain.
Isabelle was a homemaker during her life. She was a 1936 graduate of New Madison School, a member of the Harmony Makers, an advisor in 4-H and a talented seamstress making clothes for her children. She also helped with the family business, Hollinger Sand and Gravel. Isabelle was a member of Beech Grove Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her parents, Isabelle is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hollinger, whom she was married to for 65 years; a granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Hollinger; and two brothers, Donald and Roland Chamberlain.
Isabelle is survived by a son, Tom and wife Sharon Hollinger; a daughter, Carol Sue and husband Ronald Elkins; four grandchildren, Sandra Shaffer, Kendall and wife Kari Elkins, Stephanie and husband Jeff Allread, and Doug and wife Amy Hollinger; nine great grandchildren, Kayla and Braden Shaffer, Caleb, Leah, and Kenton Allread, Evan and Owen Elkins, and Riley and Kara Hollinger; a sister in law, Constance Chamberlain and many nieces and nephews.

C.W. was in the construction business for over 45 years and was the owner of C.W. Davis Construction as well as owned a gun shop. He was an avid collector of antiques and Indian Artifacts. He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII and Friends of the Darke County Parks.

Gary E. Long age 66, of Bradford, Ohio passed away at 6:52 A.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Versailles Health Care Center. Gary was born March 19, 1947 to the late Mervyn & Crystal (Cassel) Long.
Gary was a 1965 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1969 graduate from Manchester College. Gary was a sanitarian with the Ohio Department of Health where he met his wife of 33 years, Claire (Shaw). In 1977 he left the Health Department to begin farming full time. Gary was a lifelong member of Oakland Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon and board member.
In addition to his parents, Gary is also preceded in death by his step-mother, Mildred (Miller) Long; brother, Ronald Long; and sister, Marilyn Martin.
Gary is survived by Claire; his son, Andrew (Lora) Long of Arcanum; daughter, Kelly Long of Piqua; grandson, Reed Long; granddaughters, Jocelyn and Anne-Marie Long; brother-in-law, Larry Martin of Versailles; and nieces, Carolyn Martin of Minnesota and Diane Lyons of Columbus.

Gary was a 1965 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1969 graduate from Manchester College. Gary was a sanitarian with the Ohio Department of Health where he met his wife of 33 years, Claire (Shaw). In 1977 he left the Health Department to begin farming full time. Gary was a lifelong member of Oakland Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon and board member.
In addition to his parents, Gary is also preceded in death by his step-mother, Mildred (Miller) Long; brother, Ronald Long; and sister, Marilyn Martin.
Gary is survived by Claire; his son, Andrew (Lora) Long of Arcanum; daughter, Kelly Long of Piqua; grandson, Reed Long; granddaughters, Jocelyn and Anne-Marie Long; brother-in-law, Larry Martin of Versailles; and nieces, Carolyn Martin of Minnesota and Diane Lyons of Columbus.

Ruth Marjorie (Rhoades) Comer, 92, of Greenville, passed away on October 9, 2013 at the Brethren's Retirement Community. Ruth was born June 21, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Russell and Edith(Kesler)Rhoades.
Ruth attended Triumphant Christian Center Church of God. She loved to travel to and visit Frostproof, Florida. Ruth also loved anything golf. She enjoyed carving things out of wood, including sharks and frogs.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter in law, Robert Lester and his wife Darlene Comer of New Madison; two grandsons, Rob and his wife Sandy of Fountain City, Indiana and Rikki Comer of Fountain City, Indiana; two sisters and brothers in law, Dorothy and her husband Marlin Young of New Madison and Naomi and her husband Robert Rank of Greenville.

Lester E. “Gene” Enochs, age 93 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:42 P.M. Wednesday October 9, 2013 in Greenville. He was born October 4, 1920 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Corby and Irene (Reeser) Enochs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Helen (Baker) Enochs on August 14, 2013, infant sons Marvin Lee and Melvin Eugene Enochs, infant granddaughter Machelle Lawrence, son-in-law Earl Kent Lawrence, sisters Helen Godown and Patty Nease; brothers: Robert and Lloyd Enochs.
Gene was a salesman for seventeen years at Holthouse Furniture leaving there to start his own Carpet Business in Greenville. He loved his Harley Motorcycles, authentic models of older cars, going fishing, talking to people and telling stories of different happenings during his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, serving under General Patton in France, Germany and Austria.
Gene is survived by his daughters Delores Lawrence of Greenville and Lois Enochs of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Donna (Mike) Hohler of Greenville, Steven (Kim) Lawrence of New Madison, Lisa Matyasz of Banks, OR, great grandchildren PVT. Greg L. “Wilbur” Trent, age 51 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:43 P.M. Tuesday October 8, 2013 at his residence. He was born August 31, 1962 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of Larry Trent of Greenville and the late Barbara (Paulus) Trent.
Greg was the manager of the Ohio Street location for Trent Auto Parts.
He was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge, the Darke County Harness Racing Association, founder of Wilbur’s nascar.com, and enjoyed bowling and NASCAR racing.
In addition to his mother, Greg was preceded in death by his step mother Sandra Joette (Asterman) Trent in 1997.

He was a self-employed business man having built and managed Greenwood Mobile Home Park of Union City, Indiana and was a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army.
Kenneth attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Greenville, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Gary Allen Green May 23, 2011. Also brothers Ralph, Perry, Harold, Tom, Dan and Gerald Green and a sister Edna Sharp.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Beatrice (Teeter) Green of Greenville. They were married July 28, 1948. Also son and daughters in law Kenneth “Pete” and Leanna Green Jr., of Troy, Ohio and Amy (Prewitt) Green of Union City, Ohio. Velma L. Gilmore, age 90 of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 12:35 P.M. Sunday October 6, 2013 in the Versailles Health Care Center. Velma was born June 12, 1923 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and the daughter of the late Adrian D. and Florence (Sullenbarger) Lewis.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Darke County Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary where she held the position of Adjutant for 17 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Jessica Anne Gilmore in 1985; brother John Lewis and sisters Edith Hines and Mary Huffman.
Velma is survived by her husband Ottis L. Gilmore of Versailles. They were married October 14, 1956. She was an educator retiring after 30 years of service; she then worked as a substitute teacher for 13 years. Vada is survived by her daughters & son-in-law, Melinda Kay Wheeler of Centerville, Ohio and Lori Jo & Randy Jutte of Maria Stein, Ohio; granddaughters, Martha Wendel and Brie Jutte; sister & brother-in-law, Nelda Jo & Lowell Lucas of Jackson, Michigan; and brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Bill & Jennie Fisher of Virginia.

Vada was a graduate of Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse and formerly worked for Dr. Houser, Dr. Blickenstaff, Dr. Platt and the Brethren Retirement Community. Vada was a member of Versailles Christian Church where she was a deaconess, choir member, former Sunday School Teacher, and former treasurer of the Philathea Women’s Fellowship of the church. Vada was a former volunteer for the Versailles Life Squad where she served as treasurer and secretary and was a former board member of the Darke County Red Cross.

Donald retired from Corning after 42 years of service and was also a farmer. He enjoyed golfing, model trains, garden tractors and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Franklin C. Morris age 96, of Sterling House in Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:05 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Franklin was born in Ridgeville, Indiana to the late Charles & Grace (Caylor) Morris.
Franklin is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Ron Stegemoller of Danville, Indiana; grandchildren, Rhonda Minton, Rox Anne & Mark Riegle, Robert Jr. & Sherri Morris, Kevin & Kelly Stegemoller and Brian Stegemoller; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Franklin is also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pauline (Chittum) Morris on June 1, 2005; son, Robert Eugene Morris; and a sister, Glendora Brinkerhoff.
Franklin served in the U.S. Navy during WWII with the Seabees. Franklin retired from Conrail Railroad in 1980 where he was a telegraph operator. Franklin also worker 18 years on the Greenville Police Department Auxiliary and the Greenville City School for 20 years where he drove school bus and was a custodian. Franklin was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Greenville and the Greenville American Legion.

Franklin was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Greenville and the Greenville American Legion.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Church of Nazarene 7584 State Route 118 in Greenville with Rev. Wayne Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church. Pamela Sue (Page) Young, age 45, of Union City, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 PM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Unit in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on June 5, 1968 in Greenville, Ohio, to Dale A. & Mary Ruth (Brittle) Page of Union City, Indiana.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband and the love of her life Lonnie Lee Young of Union City, Ohio, whom she married on June 16, 2012; son and daughter in law, Timothy & Ashley Arnold of Greenville; daughters and son in law, Harlie & Justin Dunevant and Eva Arnold both of Union City, Ohio; step son Casey young of Union City, Indiana; grandchildren, Jordan Dunlap, Trayvin & Lillie Dunevant, and Jaydin & Braydin Arnold; step grandchild, Lillian Faith Young; sisters, Tess Plessinger of Island Lake, IL, and Wendy McGuire of Dayton, Ohio; brother and sister in law, Danny & Ginny Page of Union City, Indiana; mother in law, Barbara Lee Young of Union City, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Christina Averbeck, Scotty Plessinger, Jerry Thomas, Dustin Thomas, Amanda Page and Jason Page; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and friends.
Pamela was very passionate about music and singing. She loved camping, Harley Davidson Motorcycles and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Union City. She worked at Applegates and Union City Assembly in Union City, Indiana.

Phyllis Jean Hamilton, age 86 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of the Dayton area, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 6:53 AM in the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. Phyllis was born December 28, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio and the daughter of the late Wesley & Dollie (Kelly) McGlothin.
She retired in 1984 from General Motors of Dayton. Phyllis enjoyed her music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd G. Hamilton in 1996. Also by a granddaughter Amanda Witt and her brother Robert Ankrom.
Phyllis is survived by a daughter Karan (Keith) Hoschouer of Greenville and a son Harry G. & Stacy Witt Jr. of Clinton, Tenn. Her grandchildren and spouses Jeffrey (Misty) Witt, Laura (Jerry) Grimm, Destiny Hard, Randy (Amy) Broomhall and Brian Broomhall. Great grandchildren Amy Hicks, Brandy Vann, Corey Broomhall, Kyle Broomhall, Nicholas Broomhall, Mackenzie Broomhall, Tyler Witt, Connor Witt, Hannah Holt-Grimm, Hayle Allen, Wyatt Grimm and Ava Grimm. He was born May 5, 1957 in Greenville, Ohio, son of the late Robert C. and Polly A. (Plummer) Weaver.
Dave was a machinist, and also loved cars and music. He was retired from Cadillac Gage after over30 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittany (Andrew) Pepiot of West Chester; a brother, Jim (Kay) Weaver of Greenville; a niece, Diane Weaver of Greenville; a nephew, Lance (Kristen Wells) Weaver of Greenville; and the mother of Brittany, Beth Weaver of Greenville.
