Joseph L. Schmitmeyer (October 25, 2013)

Joseph L. Schmitmeyer age 58 of St. Rt. 242 Versailles died at 3:45 PM on Friday October 25, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 24, 1955 in Coldwater Ohio to the Late Ernest & Alma (Dirksen) Schmitmeyer. His mother survives in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio. He married Linda Siefring on February 17, 1979 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, Ohio. She survives in Versailles.

He is also survived by children; Aaron & Sara Schmitmeyer, Russia, Ohio, Matt & Liz Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Ben & Mallory Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Ryan & Krista Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Andrea Schmitmeyer, Versailles, 12 grandchildren, brothers & sisters, John & Marlene Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Pat & Cathy Schmitmeyer, Montezuma, Bob & MaryLou Schmitmeyer, Cranberry Prairie, Marilyn & Ron Poeppelman, Ft. Loramie, Ann & Paul Barhorst, Anna, Lois & Dave Schwieterman, Montezuma, Jean & John Homan, New Bremen, Linda & Kevin Muhlenkamp, Trinity, IN, Steve & Karen Schmitmeyer, Cranberry Prairie, mother-in-law Romilda Siefring, St. Henry, in-laws, Delores & Robert Lenartz, Vandalia, Mary Jean & Paul Meyer, Versailles, Art & Eileen Siefring, Burkettsville, Eileen & Larry Dues, St. Henry, Janice & Denny Rindler, St. Henry, Deb & Roger Homan, Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his father, father-in-law Cyril Siefring, sister Lucy & brother-in-law, Richard Siefring.

He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles and the Knights of Columbus, Versailles. He was a lifelong farmer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at St. Denis Catholic Church with Rev. Jim Simons celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29, and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 30. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice and Darke County Right To Life. Burial will take place in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles. Condolences may be made at
