Edythe “Edy” Morris age 93, a native of and lifelong resident of Darke County passed away at 4:48 P.M. on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her residence. Edy was born October 24, 1920 in Darke County, to the late Leonard & Ethel (Anderson) Besecker.
Edy is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Dan B. & Jill R. Morris of Arcanum, Scott E. & Zelda Morris of Eldorado Springs, Missouri and Bill & Ruth Hopper of Arizona; grandchildren, Len & Marci Morris, Carmen & Trent Yantes, April & Steve Miller, Clay & Corina Morris, Denise Tomm and Renee & Scott Uttech; great-grandchildren, Caleb Morris, Graham Morris, Ellie Morris, Heather Morris, Ryan Morris, Logan Yantes, Rick Gehret, Wade Gehret, Holly Gehret, Joshua Hopper and Hannah Tomm; sister, Reva “Sis” Crose of Greenville; and 33 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edy is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Morris; brothers, Delver “Bub” Besecker, Verl “Butz” Besecker and Denver “Sonny” Besecker.
Edy was a former medical secretary and homemaker. She formerly belonged to the Gettysburg Chapter of Eastern Star for over 50 years.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home with Len Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Newcomers Cemetery in Franklin Township, Darke County. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
