Helen L. Markwith (June 3, 2014)

Helen L. Markwith, age 99, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at 9:35 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on March 29, 1915 in Jackson Township, Darke County, Ohio, to the late Raymond & Chleo (Thomas) James.

She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Shirley & Galen Oswalt of Arcanum, Ohio, Pat & Lowell Randolph of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Barbara & Budd Dancer of DeGraff, Ohio; grandchildren, Lynne (Steven) Myers, Deb (Craig) Dynes, Sheryl (Kelly) Kramer, Michael (Julia) Randolph, Gregory (Alison) Randolph, Jerry Randolph, Amy Gillespie, Duane (Michelle) Dancer, Dina (Pat) Morris and Diane (Lee) Dubois; 26 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Keith Markwith whom she married on September 1, 1935; granddaughter, Dawn Dancer; sister, Merle Blume and brother, Rev. Howard James.

Helen had been employed for 15 years at the former Vietor-Houston Grocery Store in Greenville as well as a homemaker. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for 30 years. She was a member of the 1st Congregational Christian Church of Greenville, Darke County YMCA and Fort Greenville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

There will be a service held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Ted McCurdy officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday from 12-2 PM at the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions are given to State of the Heart Hospice or Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund.
