Virginia Pauline “Ginny” Housman, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on June 8, 2014 at 4:18 AM at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. She was born in Celina, Ohio to Fred Delbert and Gladys Julia (Bolton) Behm on September 12, 1930.
She attended Fairmont High School in Dayton, Ohio. She married Jack Housman on August 12, 1950, being a devoted wife of 64 years. She retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, their four children, Pamela Yeager, Robert Housman, Mark Housman, and Cynthia Housman, five grandchildren, Scott Mallory, Jess Mallory, Parker Housman, Dexter Housman and Darci Housman, four great grandchildren, Ethan and Kate Mallory, Margot and Reece Mallory. She is also survived by two loving daughters- in-law-Kathleen Housman and Grace Housman.
Virginia was an accomplished pianist. She taught piano, played the church organ, composed her own music, and then later served her community by bringing her talents to nursing facilities in the Darke County area. She was passionate about genealogy and Indian lore, and loved her tenure as a volunteer at Garst Museum in Greenville. Virginia always lovingly put her family first. We will miss and never forget her.
There will be a prayer service held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Randall Washburn officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers it is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions are given to Garst Museum or Hospice of Dayton.
