Patrick H. Hiatt (August 9, 2014)

HIATT, Patrick H., 87, of Waynesville, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 9, 2014.

Pat was born on June 14, 1927 in Versailles to H. Claude and Gladys C. (Moore) Hiatt. He served in the US Army for 2 1/2 years and was in the Ohio National Guard for 4 years. He attended Ohio State University and Ferree’s Band Instrument Repair School (Michigan). He was past Master of Versailles Masonic Lodge #290 (62 year member) and past Patron of Ohio Eastern Star #113. Mayor of Versailles for 12 years, past president of the NAPBIRT, and past president of the Antioch Shrine Brass Band where he played clarinet for many years. He was also a member of the Crossview Christian Church in Waynesville. He retired in 2012 from his private practice of rebuilding musical instruments, which was a love of his life. He was thankful his son, Steve, loved to rebuild/repair musical instruments, too. Pat married Joan G. Dakin on December 14, 1974. He said “no man could ask for a better helpmate, she’s a beautiful lady in every way!”

Pat is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Steve (Roxie) Hiatt of Waynesville; daughter, Colleen Marchal, of Greenville; stepdaughter, Vicki Bornhorst, of Waynesville; stepson, Michael (Nancy) Dakin, of Xenia; grandchildren (he was so proud of them!) and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers (Harrigan and Michael, Pat’s twin), and his grandson (Adam Marchal).

Funeral services 11 AM Wed. Aug. 13 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Pastor Randy Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tues. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Pat wanted to thank all his family and friends who have helped him journey through life---he dearly loved them all.
