Jase Ray Meadows Kimmel (June 27, 2015)

Jase Ray Meadows Kimmel, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jase was born on June 15, 2015 at Richmond, Indiana. He is the infant son of Christian Ray Kimmel and Shawna Marie Meadows.

Jase is survived by his maternal grandparents, Drew and Roxann Meadows of Ansonia; Paternal grandparents Steve and Carla Kimmel of Greenville; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held at 1PM, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, OH.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 AM till the time of service. Private burial will be held at Ansonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with medical expenses.

Neva J. Brand (June 20, 2015)

Neva J. Brand, age 87, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015. She was born August 11, 1927 in Darke County to the late William & Fern (Burns) Miller.

She is survived by her daughters, Bethany (Steve Johansen) Brand of Bonita Springs, Florida and Melanie (Randy) Bonfiglio of Murrysville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Ruth and Simon Johansen, Justin (Morgan) Bonfiglio, Megan (Adam) Hill, Rachel (Erik) Abraham, Jordan (Danielle) Bonfiglio and Brenna Bonfiglio; great grandchildren, Rosalie Hill, Lucas Abraham and Skylar and Ella Bonfiglio.

In addition to her parents, Neva was preceded in death by her husband Donald Brand; husband James Meador; siblings, Lawrence Miller, Homer Miller, Mildred Long, Ina Byers, Evelyn Byers and Betty Tyler.

Neva was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and of the Lutheran Church women. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, was a liaison for Thrivent Financial and volunteered at Wayne Hospital.

A service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, 7418 St. Rt. 121 North, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Don Bachman officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.

Betty Jane(Morris) Koffer (June 24, 2015)

Betty Jane(Morris) Koffer, 79, of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on June 24, 2015 at Wayne Health Care in Greenville. Betty was born on October 15, 1935 in Middleport, Ohio to the late Joseph and Goldie (Kissinger) Morris.

Betty was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Greenville and loved Garage Sales. She worked at Corning in Greenville as an inspector for 10 years.

In addition to here parents, Betty is preceded in death by a sister; five brothers; four children, Michael Williams, Connie Williams Fourman, David Williams and Lisa Williams Klosterman.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Larry Koffer of Greenville, Ohio; son, Danny Joe Williams of St. Augstine, Florida; step son, Tony Koffer and family of Corus Christie, TX; step daughter, Manya Noonan of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren and 23 grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 3 PM at Greenville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating. Family and friends may visit from 1 - 3 PM also on Monday at the church. Family request memorial contribution be given to the church.

William "Bill" Barker (June 20, 2015)

William "Bill" Barker, 50, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on June 20, 2015 at his residence. Bill was born on April 1, 1965 in Greenville to Maxine (Hilbert) Barker and the late Frank Barker.

Bill enjoyed attending Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville. He loved all music, mostly classic rock and 80's hair bands. Some of his favorites were Waylon Jennings and Stevie Ray Vaughn and he loved the song "American Pie". Bill enjoyed planting flowers. He was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the San Francisco 49ers, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Golden State Warriors.

Bill leaves behind his fiancé, Lee Rice; three sons, William, Vince and Josh Barker; a sister, Dora Hammer; three brothers, Frankie, Bob and Joe Barker; grandchildren, Ele, Joslyn and Lilly Barker; nephews, Timothy, Aaron, Danny, Dillan and Frankie; and a niece, Emily.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville with the Rev. Sam Shilot officiating. Friends and family my visit 30 minutes prior to the service beginning at 2:30 PM also at the church.

George W. Hathaway (June 22, 2015)

George W. Hathaway, age 91 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at 1:45 A.M. Monday June 22, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Ohio. He was born July 15, 1923 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Alonzo and Pearl (Tucker) Hathaway.

George had worked at Gower’s Plumbing and Heating and as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Arcanum Public School System. He was a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army with the 3805th Quartermaster Truck Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Beulah (Brandon) Hathaway; second wife Marjorie (Hart) Hathaway; sisters Dorothy Schumeth, Clara Ellen Liette, Georganna Good, Marjorie Ratliff and brother Alonzo (Hap) Hathaway.

He is survived by his children Sherry Hathaway and fiancé Richard Ryan of New Madison, Gail (Clark) Dynes of Greenville, Roberta (Michael) Salyer of Yorktown, VA., and Sandra (Richard) Robinson of Covington, Ohio; grandchildren Shawn Armstrong, Rhonda Rexrode, Emily Burk, Chad Salyer, Bethany Cotter, Scott Robinson and Stephanie Robinson; 14 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday June 25,, 2015 in the Chapel of the Brethren Retirement Community 750 Chestnut Street Greenville, Ohio with Chaplain Todd Reish officiating. Full Military Graveside Services by the the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will immediately follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services in the chapel.

Delmer Gene Batten (June 21, 2015)

Delmer Gene Batten, 91 of Greenville, OH passed away after a lengthy illness on June 21, 2015 at Wayne HealthCare, Greenville, Ohio.

Delmer was born in Greenville, OH on September 3, 1923 to Chester and Zema (Lephart) Batten and graduated from Greenville High School in 1941. Delmer was a World War II veteran having served with the 303rd Bomb Group (Hell’s Angels) as a flight engineer. He flew on 33 missions during his service including one in which the plane, landing 50 feet short of the runway, was severely damaged. Delmer was recognized for his service to our county and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross medal for heroism for his actions during that mission. Upon Delmer’s return from the war he met and married Betty Louise Swabb. Together they settled in Greenville, OH to raise their family while he worked for Schrader’s Giant Tire Company.

Delmer was a quiet man with a unique sense of humour and great love of his family. He was a member of the Abbottsville United Methodist Church, a Mason and a Shriner. After his retirement, Delmer also did volunteer work with the VFW Post in Greenville serving as Post Quartermaster and helping with bingo for several years.

He leaves behind his wife of 69 years Betty Louise Batten, their three sons Donald (Cheryl) of Versailles, OH; Edward (Judy) of Union City, IN and Randy of Leander, TX along with 3 grandchildren William (Lori) Batten of Springfield, OH, Jennifer Long of Newnan, GA and Benjamin (Kelsey) Batten of Muncie, IN and 6 great-grandchildren. Delmer also leaves behind brothers Larry of Versailles and Jerry (Glenna) of Arcanum as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to celebrate his life as they mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lloyd Batten, sisters Marjorie Cypher and Joann Cruze and granddaughter Shannon Batten.

There will be a service held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Abbottsville United Methodist Church, 4135 St. Rt. 49 South, Arcanum, Ohio, with Pastor Chris Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery, Arcanum, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Carol Stull, age 80, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:10 AM at her residence. She was born on January 20, 1935 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Minor & Mildred (Spidel) Wright.

She is survived by her children, Douglas & Marti Stull of Cape Coral, FL, David & Kelly Stull of Greenville and Debra (Stull) Kohn & Sam Puterbaugh of Richmond, IN; grandchildren, Jaime (Kevin) Olivo of Cape Coral, FL, Jennifer (Brock) Deniston of Atlanta, GA, Joey Kohn of Troy, OH, Jonathan Kohn of Greenville, Jillian (Jared) King of Greenville, Janae Kohn of Anaheim, CA, Ben (Megan) Stull of Greenville and Zach Stull of Greenville; great grandchildren, Caylee and Olivia Kohn, Kade and Kyla Olivo, Jayce and Jett Deniston, Logan Kohn, Ainsley and Parker King and Benson Stull; sister, Margaret Jane Holister of Tampa, FL; and her loving companion pets, Sasha and Charlie.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. “Chuck” Stull and granddaughter, Julie Lynn Stull.

Carol was previously employed as a dental assistant in Dayton and later as an X-ray technician at Wayne HealthCare and the Versailles practice of Dr. Platt and Dr. Blickenstaff. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her. She was a 1953 graduate of Greenville high School and was active in organizing class reunions. She was a member of the Greenville Alumni Association and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In addition to volunteering at St. Mary’s she was hospitality host at the Maria Stein Spiritual Retreat Center until retirement. Even though retired, she continued to volunteer for the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (Carthagena Companion). She also was a member of the Fort Black Order of the Eastern Star, Greenville Elks and Moose Lodge.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West 3rd St., Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. John White celebrant. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.

Gene P. Brown, age 84, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 1:28 AM at Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. He was born on September 5, 1930 in Frenchtown, Ohio, to the late Arden E. & Florence M. (Petitjean) Brown.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Thomas Brown of Greenville, Beverly Brown of Versailles, Jeanne & Bob Sollmann of Pleasant Hill, Carol Brown of Versailles, Lynn & Denis Gerling of Versailles, Keith & Connie Brown of Versailles, Michelle & Kevin Oliver of Versailles and Ryan Brown of Versailles; grandchildren, Jessica (Brett) Barnes, Shawn (Stephanie) Landis, Susan (Steve) Richards, Steffanie Edwards, Scott Gerling, Mandy Gerling, Nathan (Leslie) Brown, Kyle Brown, David (Janelle) Oliver, Derek (Jennifer Fortman) Oliver and Devin Oliver; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Br. Jude (Richard) Brown and Nelson Brown; sister in law, Carol Brown; brothers in law, John & Joan Magoto, Ken & Dianna Magoto and Bob & Diane Magoto; sisters in law, Marilyn & Larry Smith, Myrna & Larry Rue and Sarah Magoto; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene retired from Delco Moraine Division of General Motor and was a 1948 graduate of Versailles High School.

Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Max R. Stickelman, age 78, of New Paris, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 11:59 AM at the Life Care Hospital in Miamisburg, Ohio. Max was a good man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was born on March 14, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late S. D. & Lucille (Hart) Stickelman.

He is survived by his wife Dixie (Wills) Stickelman; children Terri (Steve) Stibaner; grandchildren Eric, Katie, & Sarah Stibaner; Chuck (Susan) Stickelman and grandchildren Hannah & Harry Stickelman. Also survived by his stepchildren John (Lori) Spencer; Jerry (Robin) Spencer; Joe (Misha) Spencer; James (Kelly) Spencer; and Jason (Nicole) Hemmerich, and grandchildren Wes, Austin, Cody, Samantha, Taylor, Kyle, Kelsie, Khloe, Wyatt, Kiera, Collin, Ethan, Trevor, Lane, and Landon and one great grandchild Blake.

In addition to his parents Max was preceded in death by his sister Joan Stickelman, and stepson Jeffrey A Spencer.

Max was a farmer most of his life before retiring from Dixon Industries as a Regional Manager. He was a Veteran of the United States National Guard. He was a member of the Darke County Fish and Game Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed tinkering, gardening, canning and most of all spending time with his family.

The family is having a Celebration of Max’s Life on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Darke County Fish and Game Club, 1407 New Garden Rd, New Paris, Ohio, and invites all their friends to come and share story’s and memories of Max. Mary Kathryn Birt, 97, of Greenville, OH, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born, November 02, 1917, in Greenville, OH, a daughter of the late Jesse and Martha E. (Hartman) Kunkle.

Edward A. Collins (June 18, 2015)

Edward A. Collins, 89, of Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2015, at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

He was born November 27, 1925 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Ernest, Sr. and Gladys (Sullivan) Collins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy M. Collins; a daughter, Colleen M. Hodges; and a son, Edward J. Collins.

Ed was retired from the former Corning in Greenville. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville and the Corning Retirees.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 20 at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenville, with the Rev. Fr. John White officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 p.m. till 1 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

Wanda Lee Campbell, age 91, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 4:35 PM at the Brethren retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 3, 1923 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late William & Alma (Hoover) Curtner.

She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Linda (Dr. James) Armacost of Greenville and Judy (Marion) Arnold of Greenville; grandchildren, Tammy (Todd) Pressnall, Matthew Armacost and Jim (Leslie) Arnold; great grandchildren, Zoe & McKenzie Pressnall and Rylee & Caden Arnold; brothers, Bill Curtner and Lloyd Curtner both of Greenville; sister, Edie Prether of Greenville; brother in law, Ralph Fasick of Greenville; sister in law, Polly Curtner of Arcanum; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Campbell; brother, Denver Curtner; sister, Dorothy Fasick; brother in law, Charlie Prether and sister in law, Ruth Curtner.

Wanda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and worked for Dr. McClain, Dr. Vallo and Dr. Fisher.

Mark A. Dotson (June 17, 2015)

Mark A. Dotson, age 61 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:44 P.M. Wednesday June 17, 2015 at Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Mark was born February 26, 1954 in Union City, Indiana and the son of Betty Lou (Bemis) Dotson of Union City, Ohio and the late Claude Dotson.

Mark held the position as Assistant Chief with Greenville Township Rescue Squad and had been a 38 year employee there. He was a past member of the Union City Ohio Fire Department Service, served as Secretary/Treasurer for Darke County EMS, a member of the Darke County EMS Education Committee, a past EMS Educator, member of the Darke County Haz-Mat Team, was Honorably Discharged from the Ohio National Guard’s and a member of the Greenville V.F.W. Men’s Auxiliary. Mark also enjoyed playing golf and most recently participated with the Geezer’s Golf Group at Turtle Creek Golf Course, spending time with his granddaughters and riding his Goldwing Motorcycle.

Survivors in addition to his Mother are his wife Joyce Ann (Orrison) Dotson of Greenville. They were married September 22, 1984. Also children Nicholas (Michelle) Dotson of Union City, Indiana, Mindy Sue Dotson of Coldwater, Ohio and Jerome A. Dotson of Ansonia; grandchildren Cerenity Dotson, Cloey Dotson, Autumn Dotson and Brianna Dotson; brothers Gregg (Michele) Dotson of Dunkirk, Ind., Jeff (Cathy) Dotson of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Kevin Dotson of Union City, Ohio; sister Jeanette Dotson of Dayton; brother in law David (Lisa) Orrison of Greenville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday June 24, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church 202 West Fourth Street Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Angela Meeks officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the services in the church.

She was born July 2, 1935, in Delaware, OH, the daughter of the late Ohio F. and Ethel (Siders) Keaser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her husband, Ben Heffington; sons, Bobby Clank and Jackie Rolfe; and sister, Linda Brenner.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Larry) Godown of Greenville, OH and Faith (Steve) Dodd of Dayton, OH, Patricia Park Hopskins of OR, and Sandy Armstrong Hernandez of IN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brother, Charles (Marie) Keaser of Greenville, OH; sister, Barbara Gump of Greenville; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was born May 10, 1927 at Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Vernon and Treva (Linder) Lecklider. In addition to his parents, he was preceded on death by his wife, Alice Mae (Hicks) Lecklider, whom he married June 22, 1944, and infant son, Tomas Vernon Lecklider.

Thomas was retired from General Motors, Delco Air Division. He was a member of Gettysburg Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, and First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.

He is survived by his sons, Robert W. (Judy) Lecklider of Nashua, NH, Mike (Diane) Lecklider of Greenville, OH; grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) Davis of Greenville, OH, Matt (Julie) Lecklider of Greenville, OH, Thomas (Becky) Lecklider of Nashua, NH, Aaron Lecklider of Boston, MA; great grandchildren, Alex and Zac Davis of Greenville, OH, Cara, Jenna and Molly Lecklider of Nashua, NH, Caden and Kiera Lecklider of Greenville, OH.

Graveside service, with Masonic memorial service, will be held, 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Gettysburg Cemetery, with the Rev. John Person officiating. Burial will follow the service.

Family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10 AM till the time of service. In the lieu of flowers the family would like memorials be given to State of the Heart Hospice.

Ralph W. Rhoades, age 88, of Union City, IN, passed away on June 15, 2015 at 5:05 PM at Randolph County Nursing Home, Winchester, Indiana. He was born on June 18, 1926 in Mississinawa Township, Ohio, to the late Hiram R. & Mary M. (Cline) Rhoades.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters in law, Richard & Margaret Rhoades of Greenville, Donald Rhoades of Tipp City, Ohio, and Carlton & Mary Rhoades of Ft. Recovery, Ohio; sister and brother in law, Elsie Ilene (Rhoades) & Jack Cummings of Saratoga, Indiana; as well as too many nieces and nephews to mention that all loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jean (Rhoades) Brigner; brothers and sisters in law, Royce & Jeanette Rhoades, Norman Rhoades and Marjorie Rhoades; twin brother and sister, Marvin & Marlene Rhoades.

Ralph attended school in Jackson, Ohio, and then worked at Mengals in Union City. He enjoyed sports, music and playing cards with his family.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, June 21, 2015 from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. There will be a memorial graveside service held at the convenience of the family in Lisbon Cemetery, Union City, Indiana.

C. LeRoy Lennen, age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:50 A.M. Saturday June 13, 2015 in the Rest Haven Nursing Home Greenville. LeRoy was born January 10, 1932 in Greenville and the son of the late Clarence and Helen (DeHoff) Lennen.

LeRoy was a Certified Public Accountant and the former managing partner of William S. Fry & Co. and Lennen & Fry. He was a graduate of Greenville High School, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Miami University, Master of Business Administration from Wright State University, a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren, a 62 year member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master in 1965, a lifetime member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and a former member of the Greenville Schools Board of Education.

He is survived by his wife Barbara L. (Wolfe) Lennen of Greenville. They were married October 17, 1954. Also sons Joel L. (Kate) Lennen of Pittsburgh, PA and Kevin L. (Kelly) Lennen of Greenville; grandchildren J.P., Dillon, Kerry, Molly, Kyle, Karlee and Keegan Lennen.

Also by daughters Rose Ellen Petty and Rebecca Paul; brothers Clarence Karn, Roland Karn, Denver Karn, Howard Karn, Dale Karn, Wilbur Karn, Paul Karn and infant Joseph Karn; sisters Mary Bubemeyer, Ruby Bubemeyer, Altha Karn and Mary Hicks.

Eighteen grandchildren: Nicole & Nick Dirksen, Adam and Ryan Zumberger; Jennifer & Dusty Johns, Tammy & Sean Johnson, Andrew & Kelli Zumberger, and Jessica Zumberger; Megan & Michael Black, Nicolas & Kristin Zumberger and Cory Zumberger; Samantha, Allison, Louis, and Derek Gaier; Elizabeth and Abigail Adams; Amanda and Jordan Kremer. Marlene was employed at the buckeye Apparel, Versailles Poultry Producers and was actively involved for 30 years on the family dairy farm. She was a member of the St. Denis Parish. Marlene was a very active person; she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her friends and family.

Thelma is survived by her husband Keith H. Livingston of Greenville. They were married June 21, 1947. Charline Q. Rismiller, age 92 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:10 A.M. Tuesday June 9, 2015 at Clare Bridge of Greenville. She was born September 11, 1922 in Beamsville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Bubeck) Weidner.

Charline was retired following 24 years of employment at the former Uhlman Department Store of Greenville. She had also been a very active member of the former Grace Lutheran Church, singing in the Choir, participating in the church sewing circle and the home visitation program. Additionally she enjoyed gardening and baking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Romain H. Rismiller in 2009. Also 2 sisters Genevieve Benham-Myers and Rachel McGriff.

Roma L. Thomas, 81, of Greenville, was securely held by Jesus and taken to her heavenly home on Sunday afternoon, 4:30 PM, June 7, 2015.

Roma Louise was born March 23, 1934 in Greenville to William and Mary (Ross) Delk.

On June 1, 1952 she wed Joe A. Hicks. Sharing fifty-five years of married life he preceded her in death September 1, 2007. Survived by her children Roma was a loving mother of five; Deb Eley (John Hickey) of Natick, MA, Terri (Mike) Wallen of Hilliard, Elaine (Jeff) Tomski of Killbuck, Brian (Robyn) Hicks of Arcanum and Pam (Frank) Hueske of Hanover, PA. She was an affectionate grandma of eight; Andy (Christine) Wallen, Niki (Mike) Rees, Adam Tomski, Lauren (Ryan) Giffin, Amanda (Seth) Koontz, Sarah (Josh) Murray, Ashley (Jason) Barna, and Luke Hueske. How happy Roma was to welcome seven great-grandchildren; Connor and Brady Wallen, Joselyn Rees, Cameron and Bennett Giffin, Gage Koontz and only recently little Cora Murray. In addition, Roma was blessed to be part of a second family when she married Jervis E. Thomas on May 29, 2010. Besides her husband of five good years Roma’s Thomas family survivors include; Lucille Thomas, Brian Thomas and Ann Miller, Beth and Mark Thompson, Nikki Michael and Kelsey Thomas, Ashley (Zach) Fleming, Jacob Montgomery, Xander, Alayna, Micah and Ryleigh Fleming, Robert and Samuel Montgomery. Also surviving are Roma’s brother Larry (Marilyn) Delk of Greenville and numerous cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends old and new whom she adored.

Roma loved God and every single person he placed in her life. Some of her favorite things to do were gardening, cooking and chatting with others. She was famous for her inklings. Roma shared her gift of music as church organist for over fifty years beginning at Caylor Chapel EUB Church and finishing at New Madison United Methodist Church. Roma enjoyed singing in the choir, in the car and with her children in farm fields. She shared her knowledge of piano with many piano students and her many talents with 4-H kids serving as advisor for twenty-four years. Roma drove a bus for Tri-Village Local Schools as well as the Brethren Retirement Community. She also worked as teller at Second National Bank. Finally, Roma treasured her Greenville. Best said Roma had a big heart.

Many thanks to each one who prayed, sent an encouragement, visited or helped in any way as Roma courageously battled Lymphoma.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday June 11, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Carol Duffield officiating. Burial will follow in the Miami Memorial Park Cemetery Covington, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 10, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Curtis Matthew Miller (June 6, 2015)

Curtis Matthew Miller, 34, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his residence.

He was born April 17, 1981 in Lima Ohio, son of Charles (Sandy) Miller, Sr. of Ansonia and Sandra (John) Gates of Anna, OH. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Collin and William and grandparents, Clayton (Mary) Johns and Charles (Sandra) Miller.

Curtis was a wonderful husband and devoted father. He was an incredibly proud dad, who dedicated his time and every ounce of energy to Ashlyn and all her ever changing interests. She was the light of his life. Curtis was an inspiration to the lives of everyone he met and never knew a stranger. He loved motorcycles and was an avid Bengals fan. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School Class of 2000. He was diagnosed with Good Pasture's Syndrome at the age of 19, however, he never let his illness define who he was.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years his high school sweetheart, Casey L. (Bingham) Miller whom he married May 17, 2003; daughter, Ashlyn Miller of Arcanum; brothers and sisters, Charles (Heidi) Miller, II of Rossburg, Jennifer (Clint) Wright of Lima, OH, Craig (Renee) Miller of Lima, OH, Jennelle (Luke) Wright of Harrod, OH, Chad (Cara) Miller of Arcanum, Christopher (Jessica) Miller of Greenville, Lindsey (Scott) Miller of Ansonia, Jeanette Zimmerman of St. Marys, OH, Michael (Erika) Hahn of Dayton, OH, Sheila Hahn of Galloway, OH; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Linda Ross of Pasco, OH, John Gates, Jr. of Sidney, OH, Danny Gates of Sidney, OH; father and mother-in-law, Charles (Diana) Bingham of Arcanum, OH; sister-in-law, Jamie (Jeremy) Fox of Arcanum, OH; and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Leon W. R. Schultz (June 7, 2015)

Leon W. R. Schultz, 89 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Sunday June 7, 2015 at 4:30 PM. at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. Leon was born January 8, 1926 near Rossburg, Ohio in Darke County. He was the son of the late John & Ruby (Kinnison) Schultz.

He attended school in Covington, Ohio. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was wounded while serving overseas in France and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for bravery. After his military service he returned to farming. Later he worked at Shellar-Globe in Union City, Ohio, after working for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 18 years he retired. Leon has been a member of the Versailles Christian Church for 54 years and served as a deacon. He helped deliver meals on wheels. His hobbies were cooking, playing solitaire and bird watching.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Dale.

He is survived by is wife: Marjorie (Fields) Horner Schultz whom he married April 15, 1949. They had been married 66 years. Also survived by three sons: Ronald (Horner) Schultz and wife Judy of Covington, Ohio, Tim Schultz and wife Peggy of Versailles, Mike Schultz and wife Doris of St. Henry, Ohio; daughter: Christina Hammaker and husband Randy of Versailles; eight grandchildren: Ted Schultz, Dr. Angela Isbel and husband Chris, Carey Whittington and husband Darin, Shane Schultz and wife Kim, Shannon Link and husband Josh, Kim Hayes and husband Mike, Nick Hammaker and Katie Hammaker; great grandchildren: Lauren& Madelyn Isbel, Marcus & Mary Grisez, Reid & Emma Whittington, Owen & Gavin Schultz, Parker, Riley & Logan Link, Courtney, Taylor & Noah Hayes; sisters: Patty Key, Martha Oliver; brother: Herschel Schultz and wife Ruth Ann; sister in law: Dorothy Schultz; & numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday June 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio with Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery. Jack L. Jones age 73, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:12 P.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Oakley Place in Greenville. Jack was born February 4, 1942 in Celina, Ohio to the late Donald & Frances L. (Pearson) Jones.

Jack is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Kimberly & Dwight Leeper of Rossburg; son & daughter-in-law, David & Laura Jones of Peebles; grandchildren, Candice Jones, Brigitte Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Tiffany Jones, Jessica Jones, Alyssa Jones, Brittany & Korey Harrod, Ashley & Mitch Winner and Katie Leeper; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy A. (Whittaker) Jones on October 8, 2013 whom he married February 7, 1963; son, Gary Whittaker; and brother, Scott Jones.

Jack served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jack retired from Huffy in Celina. Jack was a member of the Greenville V.F.W.

Pauline B. Emerick (June 5, 2015)

Pauline B. Emerick, 98, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2015 at her residence. Pauline was born on September 30, 1916 in Newtown, Indiana to the late George and Velma (Chester) Bennett.

Pauline's family moved to the Braffetsville area when she was six weeks old. She went to school in a one room schoolhouse just north of her home. Pauline was married to the late Vernon Emerick, with whom she shared almost 66 years with. She loved living on the family farm with her husband.

Pauline had traveled to all fifty states. She enjoyed taking care of her home, being with her family, and going to flea markets with her husband. In earlier years, she was active in church and school functions.

Until a fall five weeks ago, she had spent her entire life on the farm. She then was able to come back to the farm and spend her last days there. Pauline was also a member of the New Madison United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Emerick; a sister, Maxine Bennett; a brother, Robert Bennett.

Pauline is survived by a daughter, Christy Hight and Dick George of New Madison; a son, Jack and his wife Pat Emerick of Florida; five grandchildren, Diana and husband Jeff Hall, Cathy and husband Paul Mikesell, Jill Emerick and Tony Vigh, Joe Emerick, and John Emerick; seven great grandchildren, Jessica Bates, Heather Nelson, Anthony Bennett, Audrey Bennett, Matt Dillon, Jade Vigh, Max Emerick, and Joe Emerick; two great-great granddaughters, Madison Bates and Dakota Wooten

Graveside celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10th, 2015 in the Greenmound Cemetery with Sylvia McKibben officiating. Tillie is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Angela M. & Steven Keiser of North Star, Ohio and Christina & Lawrence Claxton of Louisiana; son, Dennis J. Virden of Idaho; granddaughter, Adrian & James Alltop; great-grandchildren, Bryan Alltop and Ashley Alltop; step grandchildren, Brian & Gina Keiser, Tracy Keiser, Angie Keiser and Kim Keiser & fiancé, Bill Mestemaker; and step great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Wenning, Logan Keiser, Chance Mestemaker, Thea Keiser, Abby Keiser and Violet Keiser.

In addition to her parents, Tillie was also preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Virden on September 26, 1995 whom she married July 26, 1946; brothers, Frenchie, Homer, Joe and Ralph Peltier; and sister, Mary Simon.

Tillie was a homemaker, caterer and cake decorator. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Daughters of Isabella and Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ron Haft celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Remy Cemetery in Russia. Dennis E. Berger age 59, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 2:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at his residence. Dennis was born September 18, 1955 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Lucian L. “Tim” & Lillian P. (Monnin) Berger.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Nancy J. (Freisthler) Berger whom he married September 10, 1977; son & daughter-in-law, Craig & Amberly Berger of Huber Heights, Ohio; brothers & sisters-in-law, Larry & Debbie Berger of Springboro, Ohio and Jim & Cathy Berger of Versailles, Ohio; sister & brother-in-law, Margaret “Peg” & Tim Schultz of Versailles, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was also preceded in death by a brother, Ron Berger.

Dennis was a job setter at Delphi in Kettering for 14 years. Dennis was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was a former Versailles High School Bowling Coach and was Past Director of the Harley Owners Group Miami Valley Chapter.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ron Haft officiating. Daryl D. Cerny age 87, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:33 P.M. on Monday, June 1, 2015 at his residence. Daryl was born November 8, 1927 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to the late Millie & Fern (Lake) Cerny.

Daryl is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Neil & Diane Cerny of Pearland, Texas and David & Julie Cerny of Crawfordsville, Indiana; grandchildren, B.J. & Sherry Terry, Christopher & Shannon Cerny, Jamie Rozenkranz, Jason Cerny, Jared Wilson, Jeff Terry, Melissa & Oscar Sanchez, and Robert & Toni Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Carol Duane Cerny of Nebraska; and sister, Fernola Stansbury of California.

In addition to his parents, Daryl was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris S. (Stolcpart) Cerny on December 2, 2011 whom he married May 23, 1951; and a sister, Twila Waterman.

Daryl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ball Corporation in Muncie, Indiana where he was a mechanical engineer for 26 years. Daryl was a member of the Greenville First Assembly of God and Erk Cottrell Post 140 American Legion. Daryl enjoyed photography, woodworking, rock hounding, computers, and was an avid reader.

A celebration of Daryl’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Greenville First Assembly of God 7219 St. Rt. 118 North Greenville with Pastor Dale Boeger officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. in the church fellowship hall, everyone’s welcome. Joan K. Weaver, 73 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday May 31, 2015 at 8:30 AM at her residence. She was born January 18, 1942 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Raymond & Mary Margaret (Eikenberry) Hamilton. She worked at Neff Lettering for 30 years.

She loved to travel and go on short train rides. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; and the Greenville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband: Roger A. Weaver of Greenville whom she married December 21, 1962 her children & spouse: Teresa Fellers of Greenville, Ted & Tina Weaver of Union City, Ohio, Kay Goubeaux of Greenville, & Rodney Weaver of Greenville; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers & sisters in law: Bob & Treva Hamilton of Ansonia, Jim & Thelma Hamilton of Coletown.
