Donald “Don” D. Garwood, Sr., 78, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Versailles Health Center in Versailles, Ohio.
He was born on December 2, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Deloyd and Jessie (Smith) Garwood.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Feitshans.
Don was a true family man. He loved his wife and family above all things. He married his sweetheart, Peggy, whom he referred to as “his angel”. When not with his family, you could find him tinkering with anything that he could get his hands on. He enjoyed camping, boating, his limo, and riding motorcycles. Don spent several years working for the City of Greenville’s street department, until he retired in 1981. He loved watching western movies and shows, such as Gun Smoke, MASH, and “wraslin”.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy (Evans) Garwood, whom he married on April 29, 1967; his son, Donald (Melissa) Garwood, Jr.; his grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Hildreth of Piqua, Ohio, Amber (Dustin) Ruther of Indiana, Tonya Keaser of Greenville, Casey (Tyler) Comolli of Piqua, Ohio, Jayce (Val) Feitshans of Newark, Ohio, Kasie Feitshans of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Nick Feitshans of Greenville, Kristian (Greg Leonard) Garwood of Greenville, Bruce Garwood of Huber Heights, Ohio, Alexis (Kyle Mumaw) Kincaid of Greenville, and Serenity, Camden, and Kaleb Garwood, all of Coletown, Ohio; his great-grandchildren, Summer, Gage, Jenica, Dylan, Skyler, Chloe, Charlie, Hazel, Ayeden, Kennley, Bensyn, Cambree, Braylin, Jazmin, Maddox, Octavia, and Rebecca; his brothers, Bob (Faye) Garwood of New Lebanon, Ohio, Larry (Beverly) Garwood of West Alexandra, Ohio, Denny (Kathy) Garwood of Xenia, Ohio, Jack (Sandy) Garwood of Dayton, Ohio, and Gary (Teresa) Garwood of Eaton, Ohio; and his special family friends, Ramon Quintor of Greenville and Mike Bannon of Ansonia, Ohio.
A celebration of Don’s life will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Greenville Church of the Brethren, 421 Central Ave, Greenville, Ohio 45331, with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens near West Alexandria, Ohio.
Guests may visit with the Garwood family on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, all at the church.
