Earl S. Grilliot (February 15, 2020)

Earl S. Grilliot age 98, of Versailles passed away at 2:25 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.

Earl was born February 25, 1921, in Darke County to the late Herman & Vena (Francis) Grilliot. In addition to his parents, Earl was also preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and Robert Grilliot; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Huelskamp, Henry Monnin, John Wagner, Jim Borchers, Dorvan Phlipot and Jerome Phlipot; and sisters-in-law, Pat Borchers, Mary Magdalene Monnin and Martha Phlipot.

Earl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan E. (Phlipot) Grilliot whom he married June 24, 1950; children, James & Diana Grilliot of Versailles, Marie & Earl Heitkamp of Versailles, Edward & Joan Grilliot of Versailles, Ann & Thomas Grilliot of Ft. Loramie and Steven & Theresa Grilliot of Versailles; 20 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters & brother-in-law, Mary Huelskamp of Greenville and Dorothy & Clarence Siefring of St. Henry; sisters-in-law, Edna Grilliot of Versailles, Jean Grilliot of Versailles and Naomi Phlipot of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Earl served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from general Motors in Dayton and was a farmer. Earl was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, North Star American Legion, Greenville Eagles and a life member of the Covington Amvets. He was a past member of the Greenville Elks Lodge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at St. Louis Catholic Church 15 E. Star Rd. North Star with Rev. Fr. David Howard celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in North Star with full military honors conducted by the North Star American Legion. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:15 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care.
