Betty Jo (Preston) Compton, 85, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in Greenville.
She was born on June 14, 1935, in Junction City, Kentucky, to the late Ishmael and Mallie Mae (Turpin) Preston.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Jake” Compton; her son, Michael James Penkal; her siblings, Harold Preston, Tom Preston and his wife, Vivian, Emma Griffith and her husband, Cliff, and Frances Johnson; and her beloved cat, Midnight.
Betty loved her family and everything to do with them. She always put her family and their needs before her own. She loved everyone and was loved by everyone. Each morning, Betty would enjoy her McDonald’s coffee and white powdered donuts while she looked outside at her flowers and the birds that flew by. Betty enjoyed reading and playing card games and board games, especially Scrabble and Yahtzee.
Betty is survived by her children, Tim Penkal and his wife, Linda, of Bradford, Ohio, Kathy Gilmore and her husband, Donnie, of Eaton, Ohio, Angie McFerran and her husband, Gary, of Greenville, Kimberly Penkal of Greenville, John Penkal of Greenville, and Glenn Penkal of Michigan; her many grandchildren and great grandchildren: her sister-in-law, Pat Preston of Boston, Massachusetts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Betty’s life will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Chaplin Andral officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City, Ohio.
Guests may visit with Betty’s family on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
