Charles A. "Charlie" Spahr, 92, of Pitsburg, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community. He was born October 18, 1918 in Mercer County to the late Greeley and Myrtle (Spillers) Spahr. Charlie was a well known self employed general contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II. Charlie was a member of the Pitsburg Church of the Brethren, Pitsburg Lions Club, Gettysburg Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and the Antioch Shrine Club. Mr. Spahr was preceded in death by his wife Donna I.(Jobes) Spahr who died July 25, 1993, Son Michael Spahr, Grand Daughter Stephanie Utley, Brothers Frank, John, Ralph, Kenneth, Jonas Spahr, Sisters Lula Clark, Eva Morgan, Alpha Clark, and Hazel Steib. Survived by 3 Daughters Sandy Rudd and husband Jerry of Evans City, PA, Shirley Hensel and husband Bert of Troy, Becky Billings and husband Mark of Colorado; Daughter-in-Law Mary Beth Spahr of Bloomington, IN; Grandchildren Sherri (Mike) Painter, Eric (Jodie) Aukerman, Christopher Besecker, Matthew Besecker, Shawn (Stacey) Honeyman, Ryan (Mora) Honeyman, Nathan Spahr, J. T. (Tamala) Chalmers, Michelle (David) Spahr, Ben (Kasandra) Erbaugh, and Jennifer (Steve) Reed, 26 Great Grandchildren; and a Special Friend Barbara Sease. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Pitsburg Church of the Brethren with Rev. John Edwards and Pastor Ken Oren officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg. Family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 2 - 5 PM at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum. The Family suggests memorial contributions to the Pitsburg Church of the Brethren.
