Edward L. “Ed” Thompson, 56, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, February 25, 2012 at the emergency room of Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.
He was born May 14, 1955 in Greenville, son of Catherine (Alley) Thompson of Greenville and the late Lester Thompson. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a niece, Stephanie Utley.
Ed worked at Fram in Greenville. Prior to that he had worked for Integrity Ambulance and Greif. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion, Moose, and Eagles lodges.
He was an avid golfer, bowler, horseshoe pitcher, and card player.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sherri R.(Kochersperger) whom he married August 30, 1986; a daughter, Stacie (Justin ) Male of Greenville; sons, Luke (fiancée, Megan) Thompson, of Greenville, and Ryan Thompson of Dayton; grandchildren, Dominick, Peyton, and Jonathan; sisters, Carolyn (David) Hoskins of Phillipsburg, Cindy Spahr of Ellettsville, IN, and Dianna (Robin) Randall of Lehigh Acres, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 29 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. with the Moose Lodge of Sorrow at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Sons of the Legion.
