John S. “Jack” Campbell, 85, of Greenville, passed away Thursday evening, July 17, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.
He was born September 9, 1928, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of the late William Glenn and Mildred Ann (Scott) Campbell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian A. “Ann” Campbell on August 21, 2011; 3 brothers, William, Robert, and James Campbell; and 2 sisters, Maribelle Vice and Margaret Carmody.
John had owned and operated Commercial Printing in Greenville. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served from 1946 to 1950 as a Sergeant First Class. He was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville, the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Moose, and Elk’s all in Greenville.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Mary Beth) Campbell, Judy Petitto, Jeff Campbell, and Joan (Steve) Brandt; grandchildren, Michael and Jonathon Campbell, and Daniel (Samira) Brandt; 2 great granddaughters, Sara and Emily Brandt; a brother, Gary (Donna) Campbell; and sisters, Barbara Robinson, Mildred (Wayne) Allen, and Willa (John) Gibbemeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jul 22, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Joe Soley officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.
