K. Gene “Joe” Rose, age 78, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away early Friday morning, July 4, 2014 at Versailles Health Care.
He was born May 17, 1936, in Darke County, Ohio, a son of the late Charles E Rose and Mary (Elliott) Straley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Thomas J. Rose in 2012 and a brother, Jack Rose.
Joe was a United States Army veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict spending a year in Korea. He served six years in active duty and in the reserves then devoted another 13 years to the Army National Guard. He worked at Triangle Pacific in Union City, IN for 42 years and attended the Beamsville Christian Church.
Joe leaves behind Joyce (Coblentz) Rose, his wife of 53 years whom he married on January 1, 1961; two children, William Alan Rose of Englewood, Ohio and Rebecca Lynn Rose of Greenville; a sister, Peggy Frazier of Richmond, IN; an Uncle, Delbert Elliott of Union City, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held 11 AM, Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Pastor Steve Short officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery in Union City, IN.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5 – 7 P.M.
