Millard H. Bowman, 92, of Greenville and formerly of Rossburg, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2014, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.
He was born December 20, 1921 in Versailles, the son of the late Henry M. and Nola E. (Miller) Bowman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Millard H. Bowman, Jr.; and a foster son, Paul David Young.
Millard spent his life farming. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in the 317th Air Service Squadron. He was a member of the Ansonia First Church of God, the Gideon’s Society, DAV Chapter 57, VFW, and American Legion. He was also a former member of the Ansonia Board of Education and an honorary member of the Ansonia FFA.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth E. “Ellie” (Campbell) Bowman, whom he married March 2, 1945; a daughter, Carol (Stan) Cox of Rossburg; granddaughter, Kristy Brewer; foster grandchildren, Denise Young-Schepis and Darin Young; step grandchildren, Lori (Scott) Billenstein, and Traci (Charlie) Hinshaw; several great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Campbell of Rossburg, Marlene (Lester) Ward and Karen (Duane) Mote all of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Steve Shoop officiating. Burial with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Gideon’s International or the Ansonia FFA Alumni.
