David Trowbridge Feltman, age 80 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:19 P.M. Saturday August 29, 2015 at his residence. A lifetime resident of Darke County, he was born August 1, 1935, the second child of the late Charles and Louise (Trowbridge) Feltman.
David married Roberta Wetzel on December 14, 1957. They are the parents of two children, Ambassador Jeffrey (Mary Draper) Feltman of New York, New York and Lisa (Bruce) Spring of Middletown. Also survived by his grandchildren Margaret and Ian Spring, sister Barbara Caron of Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
David is a 1953 graduate of Greenville High School, attended Ohio University and is a 1957 graduate of Miami University. Following college he began his employment with American Aggregates Corporation (AAC), which continued until March of 1990. After thirty three years of employment with AAC, David was appointed Director of Human Resources for the Brethren Retirement Community until his retirement in 1999.
David served on the Board of Directors at Greenville Federal from 1980 until 2005. He was a member of the Darke County Endowment for the Arts, having served on the Darke County Center for the Arts Board of Directors. With his wife, Roberta, he received the 2003 Bill Combs Patron of the Arts Award. He was also a member of the Greenville Public Library Board, a past Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville and currently a member of the First Universalist Church of New Madison. He was also an avid boater and cyclist.
Although David was active in many family, church and community activities, he always appreciated when a dear friend suggested obituaries should read-“David was alive, but now he’s dead. Nothing more needs to be said.”
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday September 4, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Richard Venus officiating. Burial will be held in the Greenville Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
