Leonard J. Goubeaux, 81 of Bronston, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 at Shawnee Manor in Lima, Ohio. Born on November 28th, 1937 in Frenchtown, Ohio, he was one of 7 children of the late Cletus “Jack” and Dorothea (Ayette) Goubeaux. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Juli R. Goubeaux; and brothers, Ed (Ruth) Goubeaux and Norbert “Butch” Goubeaux.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sandee and Ted Detrick of Versailles, Ohio, Greg and Veronica Goubeaux of Versailles, Ohio; his grandchildren, J. Michael Detrick, Harrison Detrick, Jack Detrick, Chase Detrick, Kathy Chavez and Krystal Chavez; siblings, Melva (Gene) Barga, Ivan (Judy) Goubeaux, Wayne (Elaine) Goubeaux, and Diane (Terry) Carter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Versailles High School in 1956, Leonard enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country honorably from 1956-1958. He later pursued his education degree at the Bailey Technical School in St. Louis, Missouri and a career in the trucking industry, Upon his retirement, Leonard was able to fulfill a life long dream of living by the lake. Len loved the water, boating, and sharing that fun with family and friends. He was an avid hunter, who enjoyed working in his yard and watching wildlife from his porch swing. He took pleasure in the simple things, worked hard and taught his children the value of doing your best.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM on Friday, December13, 2019 at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons officiating. Burial to follow at St. Valbert Cemetery, where military honors by the Darke County Honor Guard will be performed.
