James "Jim" E. Falknor, 89, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.
He was born on October 3, 1930, in New Madison, Ohio to the late John and Marie (Eley) Falknor.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. (Campbell) Falknor, whom he married on August 1, 1953; and his siblings, Ruthanna Butts, Helen Hodgins, and John Falknor.
Jim loved his sports. Not only did he enjoy watching the games, he even coached a few teams throughout the years. He especially liked to watch baseball and was an avid Dayton Dragons and Cincinnati Reds fan. Jim attended many Tri-Village sporting events and continued to do so even after his grandkids were out of school. Jim was also a big supporter of his community. He supported the annual school fair and 4th of July celebrations, just to name a few. When he was not watching sports, Jim enjoyed woodworking and refinishing old tables and chairs. Jim loved his family and enjoyed visits from his grandkids and great grandkids
Jim was a 1947 graduate of New Madison High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he earned the rank, Sargent. Jim work for the Ohio Department of Transportation in Darke County until he retired with over 25 years of service. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 245, in New Madison for many years.
Jim is survived by his sons, Kris Falknor of Kettering, Ohio, and Kirk Falknor and his wife, Becky, of Maumee, Ohio; his grandchildren, Nathan Falknor of Florida, Claire Falknor of Spain, Jessica Necessary of Bowling Green, Ohio, Brandon Falknor and his wife, Melissa, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kasey Moon and her husband, Kevin, of Haskins, Ohio; his great grandchildren, Shelby Necessary, Trenton, Tess, and Tate Falknor, and Rhigan and Jameson Moon.
A graveside service, with full military honors conducted by the Greenville Honor Guard, will take place at 3:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2020, at Greenmound Cemetery with Pastor Tony Price officiating.
