Norman E. Lyme age 96, of Versailles passed away at 12:40 AM on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Greenville Health & Rehab.
Norman was born May 8, 1924, in Adams Township, Darke County to the late Francis M. & Earline May (Thompson) Lyme. In addition to his parents, Norman was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma I. (Brown) Lyme whom he married June 30, 1945; son, Marion Michael Lyme; brothers, Forest A., Junior Dale, and Richard H. “Red” Lyme; and sisters, Phyllis Maxine Lear and Catherine L. Brown.
Norman is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sharon (Staver) Lyme of Ansonia; grandchildren, Michael Lyme of Columbus, Lori Fitzpatrick of Reynoldsburg and Jeff & Nicole Lyme of Versailles; great-grandchildren, Caroline Fitzpatrick of Reynoldsburg and William Fitzpatrick of Reynoldsburg; special friend, Joyce Rutter of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norman served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Miami Industries in Piqua.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Beamsville Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care.
