Barbara L. Buchy, age 72, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 6:59 AM at Willow Brook Christian Home in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on March 19, 1939 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Joseph & Dorothy (Hathaway) Schumeth.
Barbara worked for Greenville National Bank, Fram Corporation, Darke County Courts as well as being a homemaker. She attended Halderman one-room school house in Greenville before graduating from Greenville High School in 1957. Barbara loved gardening, walking, knitting and spending time with friends. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, Lady Bug Garden Club, Cancer Support Group, Red Hat Club, Silver Sneakers, and E-Z Journey Travel Group.
Barbara is survived by her son and daughters in law, Mark and Elizabeth Buchy of Westerville, Ohio and Brenda Buchy of Worthington, Ohio; grandchildren, Luke Buchy, Liam Buchy, Anna Buchy, and Tara Buchy; sister, JoAnn Altic of Greenville.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Todd Buchy.
There will be a Memorial Service held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio, at the convenience of the family.

Francis Eugene “Gene” Ford, age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:17 A.M. Sunday November 27, 2011 at his residence. Gene was born October 11, 1928 in Darke County Ohio and the son of the late Hershel “Jack” Ford and Marie (Jenkinson) Overholser.
Gene was retired from Hobart Brothers of Troy, Ohio. He was a Lifetime member of the Tri-State Tractor and Engine Assoc.

Pontius of Dayton; grandchildren Dana and Lisa Pontius of Columbus; sisters Madeline Meyers of Brookville and Janet (Ivy) Iversen of Raleigh; brother Leonard A. (Carol) Smith of Raleigh; sister in law Virginia Evans in the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, Ohio; nephews Kurt Meyers of West Milton, Jeff Meyers of Brookville, Larry Iversen of Vancouver and David Iversen of Raleigh.

Lowell E. Hamilton, 94, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, November 25, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.
He was born July 27, 1917 in Anderson, Indiana, son of the late Ira and Grace (Williamson) Hamilton.
Lowell had owned and operated Hamilton Motors in Greenville for 62 years. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143, the VFW Post 7262, and the American Legion Post 140.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Nordaker); sons, Lynn (Tennessie) Hamilton, Monty (Nancy) Hamilton, and Randy (Marceena) Hamilton; grandchildren, Vincent Hamilton, Jacqueline (Marne) Palmani, Katie (Tim) Pol, Matt (Stephanie) Hamilton, Kelly (Jim) Otis, Krista Hamilton, Ryan (Brooke) Hamilton, and Lori (Josh) Sharp; 7 great grandchildren.

Paul E. Branson, 85, of New Madison passed away peacefully on November 25, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville. Paul was born on September 18, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio to the late John & Esther (Phillips) Branson.
Paul was a 1944 graduate of Hollansburg High School. He worked for AVCO for over 30 years and later retired from Corning. Paul also worked as a farmer his whole life. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. His passions in life were farming, gardening, wood working and making furniture. Paul was a member of the Beech Grove Church of the Brethren.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his brother, John H. Branson, Jr. and an infant sister.

She was born October 8, 2920 in Darke County, daughter of the late Ira Elmer and Myrtle (Freemuth) Riegle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Hap" Nease on August 3, 2002; a sister, Maida Norris; and a niece, Lisa R. Norris.
Mary Ann had worked at JC Penny's, raised chickens and belonged to Nature Trail. She took pride in her dogs, birds and loved to bowl and golf.
She is survived by a nephew, Mark (Shirley) Norris of Arcanum; a great niece and nephew, Shelly and Craig; and a very dear friend, Keith "Slick" Schlechty of Greenville.

He worked at F & P America in Troy. He had driven trucks for Dick Lavy Trucking and various others for several years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and Moose all of Greenville.

Lowell Everett Jobes, 94, of Greenville, passed away peacefully late Thursday evening, November 17, 2011 at the Versailles Health Care Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 22, 1917 in Darke County. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal F. (Taylor) Jobes in 1975; two sons, Jay and Jim Jobes; a daughter, Shirley Anderson; brothers, Franklin Valentine and Richard Valentine; and A sister, Ruby Martin.
He was retired from GM in Dayton where he had worked for 30 years. He was an avid woodworker and loved to travel. During WWII he was with a crew that delivered planes all over the world for the government. He was a member of UAW Local 801.
He is survived by his second wife, Geraldine (Schultz) Overholser-Jobes; daughters, Carolyn Jobes of Greenville and Sally (Thomas) Howe of troy; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a sister Glenna (Lowell) Hoff of Gettysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 21, at the Oliver-Floyd funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. John McRoberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

Richard J. “Dick” Manix, age 68, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 2:33 AM at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 16, 1943 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Raymond M. Manix and Mary (Seybert) Manix Marker.
Dick worked at Ansonia Lumber as a Draftsman for 30 years. He was a member of the Army Reserve, Elks Lodge, American Legion in Ansonia, Ohio, and St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Donna Manix; step father, George Marker; and brother, Michael R. Manix.

June L. Booker, 90, of Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville.
She was born June 21, 1921 in Palestine, daughter of the late Fred L. and Blanche M. (Mosier) Hiatt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Clark, and a brother, Verle Hiatt.
June was a 1939 graduate of Palestine High School. She had worked for several years at the Darke County Auditor’s Office and after retirement volunteered for the Wayne Hospital Auxiliary for several more years. She was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Greenville and the VFW Auxiliary also in Greenville.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Booker, whom she married September 14, 1946; a daughter, Debby (Richard) Sodders of Greenville; a son, Craig A. (Ginger) Booker of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandsons, Josh and Ben Booker; a great grandson, Hayden Booker: a step granddaughter, Amy Sampier; 2 step great grandchildren, Morgan and Brooke Sampier; and 3 nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, November 21, at the Trinity Wesleyan Church with Pastor’s Robert Boyd and Joe Payne co-officiating. Private burial will take place in the Greenville Cemetery.

Mildred C. Scammahorn, age 97, of Bradford, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 1:55 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on October 29, 1914 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Beecher & Emelie (Root) Williamson.
Mildred was a homemaker and also worked at Hannah’s Garden Center, a bookkeeper for S & L Farm Services, and Warner’s Potato Farm. She was a member of the Laura Christian Church, a 52 year member of the American Legion unit 245 in New Madison, Ohio and former member of the American Legion unit 672 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, where she was the former president of the ladies auxiliary. Mildred was a 1933 graduate of Franklin High School.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Scammahorn whom she married on November 14, 1942.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Ron & Kay Scammahorn of Arcanum, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Karyl & Larry Eubanks of New Paris, Ohio; grandchildren, Ronda Scammahorn, Adam Scammahorn, Aaron (Roseanne) Scammahorn, and Heather (Randy) Tegtmeier; great grandchildren, Cody, Brock, and Kade Tegtmeier; sister, Margaret Hocker of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Laura Christian Church, a 52 year member of the American Legion unit 245 in New Madison, Ohio and former member of the American Legion unit 672 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, where she was the former president of the ladies auxiliary. Mildred was a 1933 graduate of Franklin High School.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Scammahorn whom she married on November 14, 1942.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Ron & Kay Scammahorn of Arcanum, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Karyl & Larry Eubanks of New Paris, Ohio; grandchildren, Ronda Scammahorn, Adam Scammahorn, Aaron (Roseanne) Scammahorn, and Heather (Randy) Tegtmeier; great grandchildren, Cody, Brock, and Kade Tegtmeier; sister, Margaret Hocker of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Laura Christian Church, 1 South Main Street, Laura, Ohio, with Rev. Curt Duncan and Greg Kurtz co-officiating. He was born in Union City, OH, son of the late Clarence O. and Marie (Erwin) Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Young.
Jim was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Anchor Hocking Glass in Winchester, IN where he had worked for over 33 years. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church near Union City.

Joan D. Pence, age 80, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on November 14, 2011 at 9:45 AM at her residence after an extended illness.
Joan was born on January 12, 1931, in Montezuma, Ohio, to the late Richard and Ruth (Hinders) Klosterman. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Pence, whom she married on April 24, 1954. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society; she was a homemaker, and a wonderful wife and loving mother. Joan also was a telephone operator at the Untied Phone Company in Greenville and was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School, Darke County, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by five brothers; Clyde, Virgil, Thomas, Jerry, and Robert Klosterman; one sister, Virginia Henderson; granddaughter, Hannah Pence; sisters in law, Evelyn (Pence) Elliott and Gale (Swabb) Pence; two brothers in law, George Henderson and Robert Koger.

Mick retired from Evenflo in Piqua. He was a member of Castine Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Louis L. Perreira, whom she married December 21, 1968; her children, Matt (Stephanie) Perreira of Englewood, Jody Perreira of Englewood, and Nic (Shawna) Perreira of Greenville; grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Cade, Brooke, Luke, and Nathan; a sister, Judy (Steve) Hart of Lancaster, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Louis L. Perreira, whom she married December 21, 1968; her children, Matt (Stephanie) Perreira of Englewood, Jody Perreira of Englewood, and Nic (Shawna) Perreira of Greenville; grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Cade, Brooke, Luke, and Nathan; a sister, Judy (Steve) Hart of Lancaster, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, November 13 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Rob Dauber officiating.

Rick Brown age 62 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:40 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Rick was born January 3, 1949 in Greenville, Ohio, to Betty (Eley) Brown of Ansonia and the late Robert Brown.
Rick was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville.
In addition to his father, Rick is also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Paul & Tim Brown.

Dean Clifford Rohrer (November 5, 2011)
Dean Clifford Rohrer was born on September 18, 1925 in Jefferson, North Carolina to Ferdie and Pearl (Neal) Rohrer. He married Mary Kay Diehl on July 20, 1947. Dean went home to be with Jesus on November 5, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ferdie and Pearl Rohrer, wife, Mary Kay Rohrer, brother, Glenn Rohrer and granddaughter, Cassandra Rohrer.
He is survived by three sisters, Janette and Bob Gary of Maitland, Florida, Eula Brumbaugh of Elgin Illinois, and Clyda Patton of Winter Park Florida; four sons, Doug and Karen Rohrer of Bowling Green Kentucky, Steve and Sue Rohrer of Tbilisi in the Republic of Georgia, Tim and Kathy Rohrer of West Plains, Missouri, and Phil and Jeanie Rohrer of Mountain View, Missouri; seven grandchildren and one foster grandchild; and three great grandchildren.
Dean enjoyed serving the Lord in various ways throughout his life. He was a participant in the Seagoing Cowboys and went to Greece in 1945 and Poland in 1946. Immediately after his marriage to Mary Kay, they served two years in Brethren Volunteer Service in Puerto Rico. He also participated in four mission trips to the Dominican Republic and one trip to Mexico.
Dean graduated from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana and obtained a Master’s of Divinity from Bethany Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
Dean pastored seven Church of the Brethren churches located in; Shepherd, Michigan, Columbiana, Ohio, Springfield, Ohio, New Paris, Indiana, Peace Valley, Missouri, Clay County Church of the Brethren, Florida, and Union Grove in Muncie, Indiana. He retired from the pastorate in 1992. Dean and Mary Kay retired to Chestnut Village at the Brethren Retirement Community in 1998 where Dean lived with Mary until her death in 2007. Dean continued to live in the cottage until the spring of 2011 when he moved to the Brethren Retirement Home, fourth floor, due to health concerns with ALS.
His family cherishes the memories of his constant love for them, which was rooted in his faithful love for Jesus.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, at the Greenville Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bear Creek Cemetery near Trotwood, OH.

She was born July 22, 1935 in Mahomet, IL, daughter of the late Ivan and Ferroll (Lindsey) Bryan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Taylor; and 2 brothers, Jack Bryan and Bud Lindsey.
Treva had managed the Sir Walter Pipe House in downtown Greenville for 18 years. She had spent 10 years managing the Willie Nelson Gift Emporium in Nashville, TN before returning to Greenville and working in the bakery at Eikenberry's IGA. She was a member of the Greenville Eagles Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose, and the Elk's Lodge.
She is survived by her children, Clinton R. (Amy S.) Taylor of Columbus, OH, Mark S. (Terri) Taylor of Greenville, and Vickie C. Chalmer E. Labig (October 30, 2011)
Chalmer E. Labig, age 94, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 8:03 AM at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on March 8, 1917 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Elsworth & Mabel (Jobes) Labig.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Labig whom he married on June 9, 1941; sisters, Marcella Unger and Phyllis Jean Labig; brothers, Marvin E. Labig and S. Richard Labig.
Chalmer is survived by sons, Dr. Chalmer E. Labig Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dr. Charles E. Labig of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Andrew R. Labig, Emily Ann Labig, and Michael C. Labig; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1935 graduate of Greenville High School, attended the University of Dayton and The Ohio State University where he became a member of the varsity wrestling team.
In 1946 he became a member of the First United Methodist Church where he had served on the Administrative Board, as a trustee and for approximately 10 years was the Superintendent of the Sunday School. He had also been a leader in Boy Scout Troop No. 134 and their Cub Pack.
He was a member of the Greenville Elks Lodge. A 64 year member of Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 143; a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Dayton; a former member of the Antioch Shrine of Dayton; and the Darke County Shrine Club where he had been a member of the Jeepsters.
Chalmer retired from Chrysler Corporation where he was on the Comptroller’s staff as a budget and financial analyst for over 20 years. Prior to that he was a supervisor of pricing and cataloging for Dayco Corp. and in his youth he was chief accountant and office manager for the old Darke County Farm Bureau Cooperative Association. After retiring, for the next 22 years, he divided his time equally between Greenville and his winter home in Jamaica Bay, Florida. While there he became a member of the Cypress Lake United Methodist Church and their adult fellowship; the Araba Shrine Temple; Fort Myers Beach Shrine Club and Jamaica Bay Shrine Club; the Shuffleboard Traveling Team; El Rio Golf Club; and the Buckeye Club. He also enjoyed growing citrus trees, gardenias and irises.
There will be a service held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. There will be a graveside service held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 8:00 AM at Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 PM at the funeral home. The Greenville Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service on Sunday 3:45 PM followed by a Scottish Rite Ring Service.

Richard N. Deal, Sr (October 30, 2011)
Richard N. Deal, Sr., 68, of Union City, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on October 30, 2011. Richard was born in Sidney, Ohio on April 8, 1943 to the late Lawerice and Vinus Deal.
Richard loved watching car races, NASCAR and fixing cars. He was also a big Elvis fan. Richard served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a welder for Tamasco in Winchester, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Deal and Jim Deal; a sister, Linda Fenton; two sons, Richard Deal, Jr. and Ben Deal.
Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne (Osborne) Deal; two sons, Keith Deal of Saratoga, Indiana and Vincent Deal of Union City, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sara, Chandler, Joey and Chelsea Deal; two brothers, Paul Deal and Larry Deal both of Sidney; three sisters, Shirley and Ronald Midlam, Sue and Mike Elliot and Delores Blankenship all of Sidney.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Assembly of God, 720 North Plum Street, Union City, Indiana with Pastor Brian Jenkins being asked to officiate. Richard loved watching car races, NASCAR and fixing cars. He was also a big Elvis fan. Richard served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a welder for Tamasco in Winchester, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Deal and Jim Deal; a sister, Linda Fenton; two sons, Richard Deal, Jr. and Ben Deal.
Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne (Osborne) Deal; two sons, Keith Deal of Saratoga, Indiana and Vincent Deal of Union City, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sara, Chandler, Joey and Chelsea Deal; two brothers, Paul Deal and Larry Deal both of Sidney; three sisters, Shirley and Ronald Midlam, Sue and Mike Elliot and Delores Blankenship all of Sidney.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Assembly of God, 720 North Plum Street, Union City, Indiana with Pastor Brian Jenkins being asked to officiate. The family requests memorial contributions are given to Braund Funeral Home to assist with the funeral arrangements.

Kirk L. Massie age 52 of Cookeville, Tennessee & formerly of Greenville, passed away at 5:20 P.M. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Kirk was born January 25, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio, to Patsy A. (Paro) Massie-Schneider of Greenville and the late Floyd “Pete” Massie.
In addition to his mother, Kirk is survived by his fiancée, Ann Colleen Nichols of Cookeville, Tennessee; children, Eric Massie of Toledo, Zachary Massie of Toledo and Tonya; step children, Mason Nichols, Heather Hindenberger, Krista, Travis, Ada and Scott; brothers, Keith Massie of Fayette, Ohio, Robert Borton of Danville, Kentucky, Patrick Borton of Troy, Dennis Borton of Dayton and Richard “Steve” Borton of Dayton; sisters, Karen Moser of Van Wert, Kathleen McKee of Greenville, Jill Lenhart of Dayton, Pennie Royer of Greenville, Mary Katherine “Kathy” McAdams of Brookville, Amy Holleran of Greenwood, Indiana, Sharon “Sam” Poore of Kentucky, Anita and Patricia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold E. Burk (October 31, 2011)
Harold E. Burk, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:40 PM at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 26, 1928 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Allen & Marcella (Lanich) Burk.
Harold worked at Swiss & Co. Fertilizer for 17 years and then retired from Hobart after 29 years. He was a member of the United States Army serving in the Korean War as well as a member of the Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters, Gloria Burk, Shirley Burk, and Phyllis Burk; brother, Dwain Burk; and an infant sister.
He is survived by his sister, Rowena Burk of Greenville, Ohio; Triumphant Christian Center family, Pastor Sam and Debbie Shilot of Greenville, Ohio; as well as numerous cousins.

Aleatha I. “Lee” Holden, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11:38 PM at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on August 26, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Clifford J. & Doris A. (Simmons) Holden.
Lee was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and Moose Lodge all in Greenville.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a special friend, A.J. Plummer; brothers, Orbin, William, and Norman Holden; sister, Betty Jane Holden.
She is survived by friends, Mary Wentworth and Carol Clausen of Greenville, Ohio.
