Norbert “Norb” G. Goubeaux (September 1, 2014)

Norbert “Norb” G. Goubeaux, age 67, of Columbus, OH passed away at 2:15 PM on Monday September 1, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born February 14, 1947 in Versailles, OH to the late Cletus and Dorothy Goubeaux.

Norbert was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned several medals, including the Vietnamese Service Medal and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. He proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and earned several commendations and medals in the Motor Vehicle department including, Presidential Unit Commendation Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. In 1981, Norbert began his business Juno Custom Remodelers in the Columbus area. He took great pride in his work and in making his customers’ homes beautiful. Norbert loved spending time with his family, talking politics, and enjoyed working on projects with his son-in-laws.

Norbert is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Kevin) Writesel and Michelle (Brian) Woods; their mother, Judith Goubeaux; grandchildren, Sean, Collin, and Kylie; sisters, Melva Barga and Diane Carter; brothers, Leonard Goubeaux, Ivan Goubeaux, and Wayne Goubeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Goubeaux; sister in law, Ruth Goubeaux; and brother in law, Gene Barga.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 24th, 2014 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons officiating with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
