Alfreda “Freda” Banks (July 4, 2016)

Alfreda “Freda” Banks, 96 died July 4, 2016 at the Versailles Health Care Center. She was born July 6, 1919 in Osgood, Ohio, to the late John & Martha (Smith) Recker. She married Donald E. Banks on October 15, 1938 and he passed away July 29, 1996. Also deceased are two brothers, Belva and Chester, a brother in law and sister in law: Louis and Ruth Marshal.

Alfreda is survived by numerous nieces & nephews.

Alfreda had many jobs throughout her lifetime along with being a homemaker, she was a caretaker for many families, helped on the election board, as well as delivering Meals on Wheels, and she also worked at the former Poultry Plant from which she retired.

Alfreda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her hobbies included their Boston terrier dogs, fishing, walking, tending to her flowers, playing card and visiting with family and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday July 9, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 204 East Wood Street, Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Robert Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday July 8, 2016 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Versailles Health Care Center.
