Opal Marie Bayer, age 92, of Greenville, OH, passed away, Monday, June 27, 2016 at 6:00 AM at The Brethren Retirement Community.
She was born March 15, 1924 in Darke County, OH, the oldest daughter of the late Vernon and Bertha (Rutrough) Garber.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, George Bayer, her great grandson, Micah Root, brothers, Virgil, Paul and Ezra Garber, sister-in-law, Donna Garber and brothers-in-law, Tom Klosterman and Harold Myers.
Opal is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Isabel Bayer of Waterloo, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Roger Denlinger of New Carlisle and Ann and Kent Brubaker of Sawyer, Kansas; ten grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Eva and Marvin Shuttleworth of Greenville and Ida Mae Klosterman of Greenville; sister-in-law, Mildred Garber of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Painter Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2996 Schnorf-Jones Rd. Arcanum. Burial will follow in Newcomer Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 6:00PM to 8:00 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community, in the New Chapel by the flagpole.
