Ronnie Derr age 71, of Webster, Ohio passed away at 11:43 P.M. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his residence. Ron was born December 12, 1944 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Harry & Kathryn (Lyme) Derr.
Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley (Colbert) Derr; sons & daughter-in-law, Steve Brooks & friend, Chris of Greenville and Vincent & Darla Brooks of Wesley Chapel, Florida; daughter & son-in-law, Debra & Jim Meyer of Ft. Loramie; grandsons, Casey & Marti Brooks of Tipp City, Scott & Liz Brooks of Columbus, Steven Brooks II of Greenville and Jordan Meyer of Ft. Loramie; granddaughters, Ashely & Todd Shaffer of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, Brittany & Josh Blankenship of Barlow, Kentucky and Holly Brooks of Wesley Chapel, Florida; step grandchildren; numerous great-granddaughters and great-grandsons; brother & sister-in-law, Harry “Dean” & Rosie Derr of Versailles; sisters, Ruby Hayes of Webster and Shirley & Robert Didier of Celina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was also preceded in death by a sister, Dottie Harrison; brother, Richard Michael; and brother-in-law, Billy Hayes.
Ron served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ron retired from Whiteford Food Products in Versailles with 19 years of service. Ron was a member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347, Versailles Vets Club and Celina Moose. Ron enjoyed spending winter months in Florida, fishing and spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
