John T. Pepiot (July 25, 2016)

John T. Pepiot age 90, of Versailles passed away at 2:43 P.M. on Monday, July 25, 2016, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. John was born April 24, 1926, in Versailles to the late Herman & Mary (Baltes) Pepiot.

John is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Scott & Sharon Pepiot of Versailles, Brad & Theresa Pepiot of Union City, Ohio, and Jeff & Melanie Pepiot of Piqua; daughter, Angie Pepiot of Loveland; grandchildren, Andrew & Brittany Pepiot, Jessalyn & Tyler Slusser, Tyler Pepiot, Emily Pepiot, London Pepiot, Cary Wilson, Anastasia Wilson, Charlene Pepiot and Alyssa Pepiot; great-grandchildren, Mason, Maverick, Amelia and one expected soon; sister & brother-in-law, Wanda & Richard Keiser of Mackinaw City, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys M. (Rhoades) Pepiot on March 21, 2012, whom he married June 18, 1955; son, Herman Doug Pepiot on July 1, 1963; brothers, Earl & Bob Pepiot; and sisters, Roberta James and Mary Evelyn Strauss.

John served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded a double Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal. John retired from the Buckeye Overall Co. in Versailles in 1988 where he was Plant Manager and Vice-President for 42 years. John was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus is Versailles. He was a past member of the Darke County Coin Club and former member of the NRA. John formerly served on the board at St. Valbert Cemetery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. James Simons officiating. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
