Leona retired in 1987 from the former Ella Van Dyke St. Clair Home of Greenville and was a member of the Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church and for many years was a volunteer with the Wayne Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Smith in 2009. They were married August 30, 1947. Also by her sisters Cora Seitz, Ruth Leftwich and Maud Brown; brother Alton Waltimyer.
Leona is survived by her sons Michael R. (Audrey) Smith of Scottsdale, AZ and Gregory A. (Cheryl) Smith of Lewis Center, Ohio; grandchildren Brady Smith, Brian Smith, Matthew Smith, Kirstyn (Justin)
Shumaker and Logan Smith; great grandson Hayes Shumaker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday August 25, 2016 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Doug Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery Greenville, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Thursday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
