Mr. Eugene “Gene” Griffith, 69, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 10:41 PM at his residence. He was born on December 31, 1939 in Honaker, Virginia to the late Leonard Griffith and Minnie Evelyn (Peck) Shockley.
Gene was a Truck Driver for many years and was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenville, Ohio. Gene will be remembered for his kind and loving ways, his wit and his wisdom. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Geneva (Maloy) Griffith of Greenville, Ohio whom he married on May 15, 1981, dearly loved daughters, Ashley, Diana and husband Jim, sons, Rick, Mike and wife Lori, Larry and wife Susie, grandchildren, Jason, Melinda, Janette, Rusty and Jesse, great grandchildren, Harley, Kyle, Tyler, Jennifer, Cheyenne, Selena and Angelica, sister, Geneva Hornsby and a brother, Raymond Griffith both of Salisbury, Maryland, close friends, Darla May, Taylor & Logan May, John and Marti Francis and Deb Combs.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West Third Street, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Fr. John R. White celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
