Robert Longfellow Jr. (October 27, 2009)

Mr. Robert “Longie” Longfellow Jr., 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 12:37 PM at his residence. He was born on September 21, 1925 in Union City, Ohio to the late Robert & Clara (St. John) Longfellow Sr.

He was retired from the United States Military and was a member of the Greenville Elks, American Legion and VFW and was a 52 years member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143. Longie also loved to paint.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Larry Longfellow and daughter Nan Payne as well as 2 sisters and 1 brother.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Altick) Longfellow of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on August 7, 1970; daughters, Linda McCullough of McKinney, Texas, Cathy Dotson of Anna, Texas, Teressa McGuire of Greenville, Ohio, and Steffanie Baker of Savannah, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Kay & Ed Curry of Greenville, Ohio; special niece, Denise O’Dell of Greenville, Ohio, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. 

There will be a service held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Samuel Hoeflich officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. A full military service will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. A Lodge of Sorrow will also be conducted by the Elks Lodge on Friday at 7:45 PM at the funeral home.
