Margaret N. Williams (August 30, 2016)

Margaret N. Williams, age 94, a resident of Oakley Place and formerly of 312 Ave. A. Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:15 PM Tuesday August 30, 2016 at Oakley Place. She was born November 13, 1921 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late John J. and Annabelle (Helm) Newbauer and married to the late Jim H. Williams.

Margaret was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, having been baptized, confirmed, married and with both of her children baptized and son married in the Presbyterian Church. She served the Church in many capacities, being a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher, youth group leader and was Secretary-Treasurer of the morning circle women’s group for 12 years. She was also a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts, past member of Lambda Chi Omega Sorority, past member of the Greenville County Club having served as President for many years for the Women’s Golf Association.

Margaret graduated from Greenville High School in the class of 1939 and had been employed at JC Penney Company, Gallagher Drug Store, Darke County Credit Bureau and radio station WDRK in its early days. Her passions were playing bridge and golf. As a volunteer, she delivered Meals on Wheels, tutored at East School and worked bingo at the Elks Club.

In addition to her parents and husband Jim, she was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer (Williams) McWhinney and her beloved sister Ina Whitesel.

Margaret is survived by her son James (Jamie) Craig Williams of Connecticut; grandson Gabriel McWhinney; son-in-law Russell McWhinney; several nieces and nephews; special friend Perry Reynolds and very special friend Paulette Shields of Greenville.

Memorial Services will be held at the convenience of the family in First Presbyterian Church 114 East Fourth St., Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. John Person officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Greenville Cemetery.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
