In addition to her father, Susan was preceded in death by one grandchild.
In addition to her mother, Susan is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert J. "Bob" Hora, whom she married March 31, 1989. Also surviving are her three sons, Brian (Kelly) Derr of Eldorado, Steven (Gail) Derr of Eaton, and Eric (Tesa) Derr of New Paris; two sisters Linda (James) Benham of Richmond, and Kathryn (Terry) Roberts of Arcanum; one brother David (Kathryn) Royer of Greenville; her grandchildren; a great grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Susan graduated from Tri-Village High School in 1969. During high school she found a job at Stuarts Dress Shop. She then moved on to Wayne Works, the Preble County Courthouse, and the optometry offices of Dr. Schuman and Dr. McLear. In 2011 she earned a Master Certified EMIS Professional certificate from Ashland University. She was dedicated to her job as Administrative Assistant and EMIS Coordinator at National Trail Local High School.
Susan was a woman of faith and loved her Lord. She loved her family unconditionally and considered them God’s greatest blessing. Everything she did involved her family. She enjoyed family dinners, family vacations, gardening, pool time, campfires, calico cats, lobster tails, crab legs, and homemade ice cream. During her lifetime, she opened her home and heart to many others, treating them like family. Nothing made her happier than to grow a garden, can it, and give it away.
