Esther L. Wiest, 92, of Greenville, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Brethren Retirement Community. Mrs. Wiest was a former resident of Verona and Arcanum. She was born in New Madison on November 21, 1918, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Pearl (Duckwall) McGriff. Esther was a long time member of Gordon United Methodist Church, Gordon, a 1936 Graduate of Arcanum High School, and a long time member of the former Verona Grange. She was employed as a Produce Manager at Eikenberry's Supermarket, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Wiest was preceded in death by her Brother Byron McGriff. She is survived by her husband Jeston "Jake" Wiest, whom she married December 28, 1945; Sons Edson Wiest of Arcanum and Edwin Wiest and wife Theresa of Galloway, Ohio; Grandchildren Donald Wiest and wife Michelle of Brookville, Adam Wiest of Centerville, Troy Wiest of Galloway, and Letisha Wiest of Lancaster; Great Grandchildren Robert, Shannon, and Walter Wiest; Sister Doris Watson of Huber Heights. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Pastor John Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday 1-2 PM at the funeral home. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Gordon United Methodist Church.
