He was a member of the Palestine Church of Christ where he had served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, and Youth Leader at various times. He was a former Chaplain of the Darke County Steam Threshers and Chaplain of the Greenville Farm Power of the Past. He had been employed at the former Sellman’s Hardware Store of Greenville for a number of years and retired from the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville. He had been a Boy Scout Leader in Palestine as well as a Little League coach. Bob enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets but most of all he enjoyed his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law and mother in law Henry and Claribel Fellers, brother in law Don Brewer and a brother in infancy.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary E. (Fellers) Wilson of Palestine. They were married June 10, 1948. Also by son and daughter in law Tom and Sharon Wilson of Greenville, daughters and sons in law Joyce and Tony Ayette of Palestine and Jane and Greg Eley of New Madison. Grandchildren and spouses Joe and Marla Ayette, Alan and Erin Ayette, Julie (Wilson) and Dennis Ritchie, Beth (Eley) and Kevin Reed, Jacci (Ayette) and Wade Spencer, Brenda (Wilson) and Ryan Clemens, Karen (Eley) and Aaron Peak and Alicia (Ayette) and Dustin Swallow. Great grandchildren Tanner Ayette, Sydney Ayette, Ashley Ayette, Audrey Ayette, Alia Ayette, Micah Ayette, Lydia Ayette, Zoe Ayette, Caleb Spencer, Luke Spencer, Isaac Spencer, Ethan Swallow, Kaelan Swallow, Noah Swallow, Matthew Ritchie, Troy Peak, Kyle Peak, Brenna Reed and Brooke Reed. Sister Maryalice Brewer of Palestine, brothers and sisters in law Bill and Josephine Wilson of Palestine and Dan and Beverly Wilson of New Madison. Bob’s in laws Ben and Betty L. Mixon, Gene and Donna Bixler, Jack and Connie Fellers, Jim and Debbie Fellers, Peggy Fellers, Karolyn Fellers and Marilyn Fellers.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday December 6, 2010 at the Palestine Church of Christ 209 Lynn St., Palestine, Ohio with Rev. Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 5 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Palestine Church of Christ or the Resident’s Aid Fund at the Brethren Retirement Community.
