Donald H. Asman, 79, of Marysville and formerly of Greenville died Friday morning, December 24, 2010, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness. He was retired from Dayton Power and Light Company and also retired as the treasurer of the Greenville Public Library.
He was a longtime member of the Marysville First English Lutheran Church and, while residing in Greenville, was a member and held various offices at the Grace Lutheran Church.
A civic minded person, he held various secretarial and treasurer positions in groups where he held memberships such as the Marysville and Greenville Lions Clubs. He also was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. In his employment with DP&L, he worked in Marysville, Dayton and Greenville.
Donald was born August 12, 1931 in Marysville to the late Alfred and Hilda Nicol Asman. He married the former Ann Zimmer September 10, 1961 who also preceded him in death October 16, 2005.
He is survived by his children, Ronald G. Asman of Greenville, Cindy A. Hufnagle of Grove City, Gregory C. (Angie) Asman of Beavercreek, Christopher R. Asman of Columbus; a sister, Jeannie Hennigh of Ft. Myers, FL; and a brother, M. Dale Asman of Marysville; and a very special friend, Lora Polk of Marysville.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway in Greenville and from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Marysville First English Church with Rev. Paul Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville. Full military honors will be provided by the Union County Honor Guard.
