Carl R. Edwards, 72, of Arcanum, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. Mr Edwards has been in failing health. He was born June 29, 1936 in Maple Grove, NY to the late Ralph and Thelma (Church) Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Potsdam Church of the Brethren. He held a Masters Degree from Wright State University. Carl was a Past President of the SCCAA Western Ohio Region, former member and President of the MG Car Club, member of the East Dayton Priority Board, member of the American Legion, and Life Connection, Dayton. He was a social worker specializing in children with special needs. Preceded in death by a daughter Debbie Sonderman, and 4 sisters Betty Hamond, Joan Whitesell, Shirley Lehr, and Marian Tracy. He is survived by his wife Adelaide (Van Dewerker) Edwards whom he married January 1, 1956; daughters Lou Ann Haburn and husband Marty of Arcanum, Peggy Edwards, Betty Sue Ogden and husband Mike; son Bradford Edwards and wife Connie all of Dayton; son-in-law Mike Sonderman of Centerville; 8 Grandchildren Olivia and Mike Ogden, Donavan and Josh Haburn, Brad and Brett Edwards, Ronny Edwards and wife Andrea, and Trevor Sonderman; 1 Great Grandchild, Landon Edwards; and brother Doug Brown of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 7:00 PM, Friday 5/8/2009 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home Arcanum. Visitation at the funeral home 2 hours before the service Friday.
