Raymond "Shorty" E. Wead (January 24, 1923 - May 13, 2009)
Raymond E. "Shorty" Wead, 86, of Arcanum, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Heartland of Greenville where he had resided since 2006. Mr. Wead was born in Pleasant Hill, Ohio on January 24, 1923, the son of the late Elmer and Emma (Bucholtz) Wead. He retired in 1982 from Delco Products, Dayton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II. Shorty was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (Campbell) Wead who died April 28, 2005, 2 brothers Junior and Earl "Jake", and a sister Ruth Pennington. He is survived by his daughter Darla Bourne of Arcanum; 2 sons Paul "Butch" Wysong and wife Charlotte of Savona and Ed Wead and wife Rhonda of West Alexandria; 12 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandsons; 2 sisters Gladys Stichter of Centerville and Betty Brandon of Missouri and a brother Robert Wade of Arcanum. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Pastor Gary Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 2 - 4 PM at the funeral home.
