Mark Hess Benedict, 66, of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 12:49 PM at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on February 5, 1943 in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania to the late Harry Good & Evelyn Ruth (Hess) Benedict.
Mark was a farmer most of his life and for the last few years he worked construction with his sons. He was a minister in numerous churches since 1969 and was currently a member of the Oak Grove Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Dale Hess Benedict.
He is survived by; wife, Joan (Weyant) Benedict of Versailles, Ohio whom he married on August 16, 1964; children and their spouses, Dale & Karen Benedict of Covington, Ohio, Faith & Russell Wray of Laura, Ohio, Joel & Tara Benedict of Covington, Ohio, Jeremy & Michelle Benedict of Versailles, Ohio and Nevin Benedict of Versailles, Ohio; grandchildren, Andre Benedict, Ian Benedict, Izeke Benedict, Hannah Wray, Corbin Wray, Carly Wray, Brendan Wray, Reuben Wray, Tristen Benedict, Tori Mae Benedict, Rae Lynn Benedict, Shane Benedict and Alexia Benedict; foster children, Ron Johns of California and Brady Johns of Kentucky; step mother, Julia Benedict of Pennsylvania; sisters and brothers in law, Fay & Lester Frey of Pennsylvania, Edna & Floyd Denlinger of Brookville, Ohio, Joan & Carl Helman of Pennsylvania, Lois & Eldon Flora of Covington, Ohio and Mae Emig of Eaton; brothers and sisters in law, Christ & Mary Beth Benedict of Covington, Ohio and Keith & Sharon Benedict of Pennsylvania; brother in law and sister in law, Gene & Wanda Weyant of Troy, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Sugar Grove Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Farrington Rd., Covington, Ohio with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 1-5 PM and 6-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
