Specialist Eriel Luis Valdes, 23, was a member of the 101st Airborne Infantry stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Eriel passed away on July 20, 2009 at 4:30 AM in Hopkinsville, Kentucky as a result of an automobile accident. Eriel was a originally from Greenville, Ohio before entering into the military.
He was born on May 19, 1986 in Miami, Florida to Diana (Sleppy) Valdes of Greenville, Ohio and Ozmani Valdes of Miami, Florida. Eriel was a member of the United States Army serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and has 3 purple hearts. He is a member of the American Legion, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by; maternal great grandparents, Kathryn Musselman, Wilbur Musselman, Russell Sleppy Sr., Catherine Small and Otho Small; aunt, Deb Sleppy.
In addition to his parents he is survived by; fiancée, Miranda Eisen of Greenville; brother, Joel Valdes of Greenville; maternal grandparents, Wilma Musselman of Greenville and Russell Sleppy Jr. of Greenville; paternal grandparents, Moriama Valdes of Miami, Florida and Carlos Valdes of Cuba as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts and uncles.
