Marion E. Loy, 94, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, July 17, 2009 at Heartland of Greenville.
He was born in Darke County, son of the late Claud and Alga (Ware) Loy. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Duane Loy and Robert Leon Loy; and a sister, Audrey Drew.
A 1933 graduate of Jackson School, Marion was a retired farmer having raised dairy cattle, sheep and miniature goats. He was a member of the Teegarden Congregational Christian Church near Ansonia for whom he had served as Sunday school Superintendent for several years. He had been a 4-H leader and was a member of the Miami Valley Milk Producers with whom he had held many positions, and various other agricultural associations.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn (Wenger) Loy whom he married July 2, 1938; his children, Dean (Jennifer) Loy of Greenville and Marilyn (Larry E.) Delk of Greenville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan) Beisner, Nicole Loy, Jeffrey (Marie) Delk and Melissa (Greg) Schreck; a great granddaughter, Emily Schreck; and a brother, Gene Loy of Greenville.
Services will be held at the Teegarden Congregational Christian Church, near Ansonia, Tuesday, July 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville on Monday, July 20 from 6-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Teegarden Congregational Christian Church.
