Raymond “Ray” Meyers age 83, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:57 A.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Ray was born December 7, 1930 in Scioto County, Ohio to the late Glen & Sylvia (Morgan) Meyers.
Ray is survived by his wife, Betty Ann (Westfall) Meyers whom he married February 6, 1954; son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Tammy Meyers of Greenville; daughter, Jane Bannon of Dayton; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Carl & Mildred Meyers of Columbus, Paul & Faye Meyers of Florida, Ralph & Gladys Meyers of Virginia, Ron & Cathy Meyers of Portsmouth and William & Sara Meyers of Portsmouth; sister, Hazeldean Meyers of Bradenton, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray is also preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Joel and Richard Meyers; and sisters, Barbara Lewis, Loretta Nolan and Alveda Long.
Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ray retired in 1978 from Corning Inc. in Greenville. Ray was a member of the Bradford Masonic Lodge #593, Greenville American Legion and Greenville V.F.W.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Military Services will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by the Bradford Masonic Lodge #593 on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
