Doris was born September 24, 1926, in Eldorado, Ohio to the late Floyd & Myrtle (Beasley) Vaughn. In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, John Gower; 2nd husband, Harold Elson; son-in-law, Terry Hughes; grandson, Ronnie Hughes; sisters, Freda Gower and Esther Cummings; and a brother, Hugh Vaughn.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Marge Hughes of Greenville and Carol (Bob) Fasnacht of Greenville; step-son, James (Donna) Elson of Greenville; grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Hughes, Doug (Julie) Hughes, Jeff (Angie) Howard and Jan (Tracy) Howard; step-grandchildren, Nick (Cristy) Elson, Jenny (Steve) Bostater, Jon Elson, Nikki (Dusty) Nealeigh, Stacy (Sean) Marlow, Robert (Jody) Fasnacht and Ryan (Stephanie) Fasnacht; and 26 great and step-great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Doris retired in 1992 after 40 years at Fram in Greenville. She also worked at the Tomato Factory and Dayton Racquet in Arcanum. Doris was a member of Ansonia First Church of God and the Greenville Eagles. She enjoyed puzzles, word search, flower gardening and reading her Bible. Her family, friends and neighbors was very important to her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Derek Specht officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Covington. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
