Paul E. Marchal age 94, of Versailles passed away at 11:25 AM on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Paul was born August 30, 1923, in Frenchtown to the late Leo & Emma (Treon) Marchal.
Paul is survived by his wife, Alvira (Kramer) Marchal whom he married September 16, 1950; children, Dave (Carol) Marchal of Celina, Ron (Betty) Marchal of Burkettsville, Keith (Ann) Marchal of Versailles, Julia (Melvin “Calvin”) Wuebker of Cassella, Mark (Elaine) Marchal of North Star, Doris (Tom) Phlipot of Versailles and Ed (Eileen) Marchal of North Star; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Thelma Barhorst of Ft. Loramie, Jim & Eileen Marchal of Urbana and Donna Partington of Troy; in-laws, Irma Grilliot Fleck of Coldwater, Esther Marchal of Minster, Victor & Verene Kramer of Osgood, Ginny & Ernie Poeppleman of Yorkshire, LeRoy & Doris Kramer of Ft. Loramie and Rich & Doris Kramer of Ft. Loramie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Paul was also preceded in death by his grandchildren, Kevin Marchal, Donald Marchal, Allan Marchal and Michael Marchal; brothers, Francis “Jerry” and Norman Marchal; sisters, Mary Francis, Cordelia Knob Wattercutter and Dorothy Hatcher; sister-in-law, Bertha Marchal; brothers-in-law, Joseph Francis, Roger Knob, Robert Wattercutter, Richard Hatcher and Harold Barhorst; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Frank & Roslina (Bergman) Kramer; and in-laws, Urban & Mary Kramer, Alfred & Mary Alice Kramer, Clete Grilliot and John Fleck.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from farming and the Union City Body Co. in Union City, Indiana. Paul was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
