Elizabeth L. “Bettie” Wombold, 76, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 15, 2018.
She was born on October 28, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Thomas Royal and Margaret (Duisen) McCullom.
In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by two nephews, Christopher Steuer and Ryan McCullom; great grandson, Kyler Johnson, and her daughter-in-law, Jackie (Meyers) Wombold.
Bettie worked as a manager on retail sales for many years. She was always very active and loved travel. She would take her children camping, bowling and bingo. In her youth she was an avid horse rider and would compete in barrel racing competitions. She loved talking and meeting new people and she never met a stranger. Bettie was a wonderful mother and loved her family and friends.
Bettie is survived by her children, David Wombold of Bradenton, Florida, Scott Wombold of Richmond, Indiana, Deborah (Robert) Plebanski of Brookville, Ohio, Wendy (Brent) Buckley of New Madison, Ohio, John (Heather Treadwell) Wombold of New Lebanon, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her siblings, Judith Steuer of Indianapolis, Indiana, Thomas (Carol) McCullom of Sarasota, Florida, and Margaret (Pete) Flores of Kokomo, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Bettie’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Home, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Hershel Fee officiating. Bettie donated her body to science to further medical research.
Family and friends may visit on Friday from 4:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
