Jerome was born January 28, 1935, in Versailles to the late Orlan & Dorothy (Schilling) Oliver. In addition to his parents, Jerome was also preceded in death by his grandchild, Deborah Oliver; great-grandchild, Grace Kniesly; and brother, John Oliver.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Pitsenbarger) Oliver whom he married August 21, 1955; children, Melinda Butts of Greenville, Doug & Zhiela Oliver of Versailles and Kevin & Michelle Oliver of Versailles; grandchildren, Carl & Kristin Butts III, Nathanael & Mandy Butts, Emily & Craig Oliver, Elizabeth & Mike Kniesly, Elijah & Ashley Oliver, Ethan & Chelsea Oliver, David & Janelle Oliver, Derek & Jennifer Oliver and Devin Oliver; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 expected; brother & sisters-in-law, Eugene & Janice Oliver of Versailles and David & Joan Oliver of Miami, Florida; sister-in-law, Martha Oliver of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerome retired from Penn Central Railroad where he was a block operator. He also owned Oliver Trucking in Versailles. Jerome was a member of Ansonia First Church of God, Greenville Shuffleboard Club and was an Auxiliary Lake Patrol at Grand Lake St. Marys.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Derek Specht officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
