Carl A. Hill (February 21, 2010)

Carl A. Hill, 63, of Coldwater, Michigan passed away on February 21, 2010 at Community Health Center in Coldwater, Michigan. Carl was born in Greenville, Ohio on April 25, 1946 son of the late Rolland and Mary Irene (Schlechty) Hill.

Carl will always be remembered for his wit and sense of humor. Everyone that met him became his friend, and he was never known to have met a stranger. Carl was someone who put everyone else’s needs before himself. He loved to golf and was an avid hunter and fisherman who always enjoyed the outdoors. His fishing stories, love of 60’s and 70’s music and giving people nicknames will be greatly missed.

Carl graduated with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Greenville Manufacturing, Union City Body Company, and Dana Corporation as an Electrician, and at Alcoa Closures (Silcon Container) as the head of maintenance. Carl served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Carl is survived by his wife Lois J. “Honey Bunny” (Dowler) Hill; one son, Scott “Samuel” and wife Sonya “Favorite Daughter-In-Law” Hill of Hollansburg, Ohio; one daughter, Lorraine “Potsy” Hill-Koch and fiancĂ©, Tony “Tony Maronie” Akers of Coldwater, Michigan; five grandchildren, Alexandria “Sugie” Koch, MacKenzie “Peanut” Koch, Noah “Noah Coboah” Pervis, Kylee “Ky Ky” Akers and Dom “Dom Mega” Akers; two brothers, Rodney and his wife Patricia Hill of Greenville, Ohio and Edward and wife Carol Hill of New Madison; one sister, Bernadette McMaken of Nashville, TN; special friends, Robert and Lorraine Spatola of Rochester, New York, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Storch Braund Funeral Home from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with the Rev. George Taylor being asked to officiate. A veteran tribute will end the service with the Darke County Honor Guard officiating.

The Hill Family request that memorial contributions be made to the Brownies Room at Coldwater Health Center or Battle Creek Health Systems Cancer Center “Medication Fund” with donations being accepted at the funeral home.
