Mrs. Ferne E. Thomas, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:55 P.M. Monday February 1, 2010 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home of Greenville. Ferne was born August 6, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio and the daughter of the late True & Gertrude (Flatter) Flommersfeld.
Ferne was retired, having worked at the Early Bird, the former Warren Street Market and Williams Butcher Shop.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville and was Past Matron of the Ft. Greenville #406 Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother—True Flommersfeld and sister—Mary Esther Hoblit.
Ferne is survived by her husband Charles H. Thomas of Greenville. They were married October 15, 1941. Also survived by sons and daughter in law—Pat (Kim) Thomas of Kenton, Ohio and Scott Thomas of Fredericksburg, Va., and daughter and son in law—Sue (Keith) Schlechty of Greenville. Grandchildren and spouses—Debbie Fornshill, Troy (Linda) Wombold, Pat (Kelly) Thomas, Gina Thomas, Angie (Wayne) Hughes, Megan Thomas, Stacey Thomas and Ben Harruff. Also 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sister in law—Betty Flommersfeld of Greenville and brother in law—Cliff Hoblit of Greenville.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday February 5, 2010 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Pastor Alan Knoke officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery Greenville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 until 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
