Roy L. Hunt (April 22, 2011)
Roy L. Hunt, 84, of Greenville, formerly of Lake Maloney, North Platte, Nebraska, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. Mr. Hunt was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 20, 1926, the son of the late Roy L. and Rosa (Lambert) Couch. Roy was raised by his Grand Parents and Adoptive Father and Mother Charles and Rosalee Hunt. He was Native American, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Deer Clan, a 1943 Graduate of North Platte High School. Roy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Ithaca; a veteran of the U. S. Navy, member of the Greenville VFW and American Legion. He was a member of the North Platte Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Tehama Temple of the Shrine Club. Mr. Hunt held a commercial pilot's license, loved hunting, fishing, and golf and was a wood carver. He was retired 43 year employee of the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte. Roy was preceded in death by 2 Brothers Jack Couch and Jim Hunt. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Rosenberg) Hunt, whom he married December 18, 1943; Daughter Mary Flint and husband Frank of Arcanum; 2 Grandchildren Craig Flint and wife Rhonda of Union and Lee Ann Shadowens and husband Mark of Kettering; 4 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandsons. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Ithaca, with Pastor Joene Herr officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday 1 hour before the time of services at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
