Sonja Faye Barnhill, age 72, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 4:15 AM at Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio. She was born on October 14, 1939 in Maysville, Kentucky, to the late Henry & Mossie (Rodgers) Roberts.
Sonja was part owner of the Korner Restaurant in Arcanum for over 20 years and also worked at Crow in Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, John, Wayne, and Jimmy Roberts; sisters, Trula Brewer and Erma Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Barnhill of Arcanum, Ohio, whom she married on March 19, 1955; daughters and son in law, Rhonda (David) Marshal of Arcanum and Sharon Madascy of Arcanum; grandchildren, Misty Dickens, Kristen Marshal, and Steven Madascy; great grandchildren, Matthew Marshal and Chase Dickens; brother, Mick Roberts of Hillsboro, Ohio; sisters, Margaret Taylor of Middleburg, Kentucky and Donnah Clark of Huber Heights, Ohio; and loving niece, Wendy.
There will be a service held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Dan Kuhbander officiating. Burial will follow in the Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
