Eileen N. Hocker, age 100, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 7:05 PM at State of the Heart Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on August 18, 1916 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late C.D. & Rosanna (Hunt) Wright.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Tammy Hocker Hanson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Shelley Ural and Stephen Hanson; great grandchildren, Kyle Ural, Kelsi Johnson and Donovan Hanson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Hocker whom she married on April 3, 1937; brothers, Carl, Minor, Robert and H. Verl Wright; and sisters, Mary Erisman and Mae Hussey.
Eileen was active at the EUB Church in Greenville, was involved with the Sweet Adelines singing group and worked at the Greenville Advocate. Eileen really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Being born in 1916 at her family’s house, located a crossed from the old Beech School House, she experienced many changes in her life. She was able to travel where she live in Florida from 1957-1984 and then spent the last 9 years in Houston, Texas. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
There will be a service held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery, Gettysburg, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home.
